Utah = National Champs

So what your saying is that one win against MSU gives us the edge. after some research i hope your right, because we are in the running for the top reciever in the country Rueben Randle along with Bama. but as a young kid looking at programs Alabama is rising were we have flat lined at 10 to 11 wins a season. Pretty good flat line if you ask me but Bama was one game away from the NC game and has a very young nucleus coming back too. Sound like the same DAWG team that said they should be playing for the NC in 04 and 02, then get blown out in the first half by WV. Alabama could possibly have 2 loses by the National Champions. thats another topic though. if we get Randle then a win in the Capital One Bowl out weighs a Sugar Bowl Lose.

Right on the money dapolla. Fl-OK is for the BCS championship, not the national championship. If any team other than Utah is national champion, then it is a joke. Utah really showed what a good team they are and are deserving of the national title.

Upside to Fl or OK being voted national champion. Another college president becomes a convert to a playoff system.

Can't argue the Utah scenerio but unfortunatly, I believe USC will be ranked ahead of Utah in the AP. The voters are going to put too much emphasis on Smith not playing in the game which caused a total disarray of Bama's OL (which it was, unbelievable difference).

Utah played an intense, great game.
Alabama played a horrible game.
It happens. I still think that nine out of ten times Alabama wins that game.

Playing through individual injuries is part of being a championship team. Bama failed in that regard. Utah deserves a ton of credit for overcoming every obstacle placed before it. However, they are not the best NCAA Division 1 team football team. If they desire to achieve the status of being national champions then they must schedule some heavier contenders during the regular season. It would be counterproductive to the overall quality of college football to encourage and/or reward the strategy of backing into a championship via soft regular season schedules.
