I have to agree with you too, duck (maybe except for the South Carolina part). I truly love CMR but something is missing...emotion, too calm, gameday coaching, OC?, DC?, special teams coordinator? Don't know what it is but I agree with you....10 wins is very good but at UGA we should be expecting to play for NC's with the likes of USC, LSU, UF and Texas etc. At least I consider our program ELITE, hopefully I'm not just fooling myself!!
BTW, you (golferdawg, sadlerdawg and myself) aren't trying to be negative, we are unfortunately being REALISTIC.

Would like to pose this question in this thread . . . .
If you were rating MSU against the rest of the teams in the SEC, where exactly would you place them, both East and West teams included.

I'm not sure they would beat any SEC team....maybe UK, MSU or USC (the way they are playing now)?
Oh, good question Buc and a good point.
A question to you.....are a few of us \"off base\" with our puzzlement ( a word?) on what's missing in Athens? Shouldn't we expect to be talked about in the same breath with the USC's, LSU's, UF's and the Texas' of the college football NC world?

How do you mean, Buc? As if they played in the SEC or just compare their season overall? If they played in the SEC, I think they'd probably be around AU or Tenn's caliber. Just rating their season compared to SEC teams, I think they'd fall somewhere around SC or UK. And admittedly, that's only having seen MSU play two or three times this year.

Overall program strength would rank up there with USC out of the East and possibly Auburn or Ole Miss out of the west. A great season for MSU would be an 11-2 or 10-3 season, then get blown out in the rose bowl by USC.
anyway, we played an ok MSU (Big 11) team. After watching bowl games i would have to rank the Pac-10 above the Big-10/11 for the third best confrence in america. The Pac-10 teams beat some good football teams this bowl season. the only struggle they really has was the OSU vs Pitt game the rest they won pretty handly.

wlayton, I have read all of the threads and posts since (and before) the Capital One Bowl game. I say this through sincerity, not rose colored glasses, there is not a team in the SEC that could not hold its own with MSU. That is not saying that MSU is not a 'good team'. They have their players, at certain positions that are 'good', overall I would not put them above anyone in our conference.
They are very one dimensional, and played that way throughout the year. Easy team to prepare for, not like preparing for a GT or Texas Tech, both of which are different styles of offenses altogether.
wlayton, have been in this state for a long time, enjoy watching some of the talent that is in the State of Florida, because there is so much here. Same with our State of Georgia, immensely talented high schoolers. To the point and the question that you posed . . . . UGA's program is beginning to reflect what I have watched happen to FSUover the years. Great recruiting, no fear of any team in the nation, much has changed. Must be said, tighter reins are needed or prospect selection has to be looked at more closely. Referring to off the field type of activities. I tend to fall into the category of folks that think that discipline is necessary, and I think that I am watching an aloofness in our program that will never take us to the mythical national championship. That is my opinion, that of a 70 year old.
sadlerdawg, meant within the SEC, sometimes I get carried away with the keyboard as you know.
