\"Times are a changin\".....Dooley's time was different than Butts time and Richt's time is different than Dooley's. The game has changed, the athletes MUCH better. I can't really look back to the past to make myself feel better about having an under achieving year from both the players and the coaches. This program has been \"primed\" the last few years to take it all. Maybe we will in the next couple of years but if I'm happy and complacent with the last few years with the talent we've had then I would be lying. It is inbred in me to \"win it all\"....guess that might be a fault of mine. I never liked finishing 2nd personally.

I just don't compare 20-30 years ago with today. As great as Nicklaus and Palmer were, do you think they can compare with the talent and athleticism of Tiger? For many years I felt you could because I'm a Nicklaus fan but you can't. Tiger is another level....oh well, my point is made (at least to me).

wlayton, feelings run in many different directions when it comes to UGA football. That is to be expected. I find your post to be excellent, maybe that is because I have many of the same feelings. As an example, GT comes to Athens and rips our hearts out. Do I think that it falls on the players, some, but I am not ready to accept the fact that either injuries or lack of talent was the deciding factor. That particular game rests at the feet of the defensive coaching staff. I witnessed what Utah did to Alabama last night, better athletes, don't think so. Feel that the defensive strategy of Utah was exceptional.

I'm with ya Buc.....but guess I always am. We are usually on the same page, guess we were raised \"back in the day\" when values meant something.

BTW Buc, where did you say you live in Florida? If my family and I are vacationing down your way this summer, I'd like to shake you hand.

I'm right down the middle on this one. Injuries can kill you. Look at Alabama last night. Don't underestimate the impact they had on us this year.
What concerns me most is the lack of leadership, especially on the defensive side. Too much showmanship, not enough grit. I do believe that's a coaching issue.
