I'm still ticked at the way the polls work (correction DON'T work) and I still dream of a playoff in college football some day before I die but you said it best, this really SHOULD only help fire up our team and there is NO way they should look past Cent. Michigan. Sadlerdawg is also correct, there is NO need for ANY polls prior to October.
GOOOOOOO DAWGS!
DESTROY EVERY TEAM YOU PLAY!

If it motivates our guys, all for the better. There is no logic other than they hate Southern Football and everything it represents.
Bulletin board fodder.

why such suprise? we are always treated like 2nd best we never get any respect but thats fine i guess when u play in a pansie ass league like the pac 10 and u try and score on a horrible uva team with 2 mins left to hike up the score and show u have absolutely no class, thats what they look for in a number 1 team in the country, screw the ap polls and usa todays polls, i hope we get a chance to play usc and beat the crap out of them, we get penalized for havin class and for CMR to call off the dawgs when the game is 38-0 at the BEGINNING of the 3rd qtr.
mbalestra50, welcome aboard. Don't know if you have perused this site before, but noticed this was your first post. You know the old saying, don't get angry, get even.
GooseDawg78, sadlerdawg is on the mark with the wait and watch polls, totally agree.
Goose, also went to south Florida to watch the game this past weekend. I truly believe that this group of Dawgs, barring injury, will be a tough bunch come BCS time.
wlayton, looks like we are in for some weather this week. Hope that all goes well for everyone. We don't need a lot of rain at this point, over 18 inches from Fay in my area, but suspect we are going to have sheets and sheets of rain from Hanna. Go Dawgs!

This year, we are leapfrogged despite winning. Has that ever happened before?
I remember one specific instance clearly, maybe because it forced me to actually be on Notre Dame's side of the argument. Ohio State was #1 in the country at the beginning of 2006, Notre Dame was #2, and Texas #4. All three won their first games, but Notre Dame fell to #4 and Texas rose to #2. It made no sense until you looked at the schedule: the next week Ohio State was playing Texas in Austin. There hadn't been a #1 vs. #2 clash in the regular season since 1996, when Florida played Florida State. So of course they would rank Texas #2, which they proved they didn't deserve by losing to the Buckeyes in their home stadium. It only proves that the first month of rankings are absolutely useless. All that matters is what you do with the games in front of you, which is why, to me, Auburn won a share of the national title in 2004, and we won a share in 1946. Just win games, baby.
