This is tough news. I hope Bran heals quickly. He is a rock.

You know he can't wait to get back on the field.

Chapas will be fine. I believe he had a touchdown or two last year, and did very well in relief of Southerland. I don't remember a single time I said \"Oh, if Brannan was in TB would have broken free,\" or \"Stupid Chapas, fumbling the ball!!!\"
Does anyone remember when Des Williams went down in practice with a pec tear? I thought, \"Oh, no, now we got this freshman who's never played who has to replace him! We're SCREWED!!!\" So, yeah, that freshman turned out to be Brannan Southerland, who may turn out to be the best fullback (yes, Sapp included) that we've ever had. We don't rebuild, Dawg Lovers, we reload. Trust that we've recruited fantastic players to back up our fantastic players.
...well, except for Andy Bailey....

I think as last year went on we had been moving a \"little bit\" away from our traditional FB/TB sets and are trying to open things up a little more than in the past. Yes, we DEFINETLY need BS but Chapas and FM will be fine for what they will be asked to do. We have SO many weapons on offense this coming year that I believe Bobo would have moved more to open sets to spread the field a little more and also use the King/Moreno sets as mentioned before. Anybody remember the Cadillac/Brown combo at AU a few years ago.....unstoppable and they didn't have the passing game that we are going to have this year. We need BS for sure but we'll be fine.
BTW....I think they should give him a medical redshirt this year. Even if he comes back after the first 5 games, he won't be in any kind of \"football\" shape at all. Yep, get him a medical redshirt.

I saw us use the West Virginia Spread Option a couple of times last season, too. On both occasions, we got a TD from using it. Against Kentucky, Stafford had a 10-yard TD run from the formation, and against Tech, he scored on a 30-yard run. Tech bit so hard on the fake to Moreno that no less than 8 Tech defenders followed him down the line whenever they thought he had the ball on the outside veer. Stafford covered those 30 yards for a TD like a runaway beer truck. Same thing happened against UK. About 8 defenders followed Moreno when they thought he had the ball on the outside veer. I don't think it would make a good \"base\" offense in this conference, though. It is good to keep defenses guessing.
