Some Misalliance Thoughts!

Love those hot cars wlayton. When I am trying to be \"cool\" I have a 1993 TransAm, 6 speed. Really corners and just a \"hoot\" to drive. I know exactly what you mean, probably second to football, but a close second. averagedawg, my best buddy in high school had a 50 Ford, skirts and all, big time in the fifties. I drove a 1952 Chevrolet convertible with a continental kit, roll and pleat, split manifold, smitties. Rack off with the best of them. . . . .

More cool cars, Buc and averagedawg. Even the lingo describing them is COOL.:woohoo: :woohoo:

Could talk and reminisce all day about past cars, both muscle cars and the classics....love those era's, good stuff.

Have either of you gone to any of the Barrett-Jackson Auctions or the Russo-Steele Auctions (there are others as well)? They both have one coming up in Feb and March....think ya'll should come down and buy something...trying to get you \"hooked\".

Buc, my wife inherited her car from her grandfather. He bought it new. It had all that cool stuff, skirts, continental kit, Bendix overdrive, nice cherry red color with a white top. Her dad drove it for awhile . He flipped the gear shifter to the left side so the gears were upside down. I guess that was the thing to do in the fifties so you could put your arm around your girlfriend.
Times sure were simpler back then.

wlayton, spent the weekend in Lauderdale (Plantation) with my daughter and her other half. Watched the big screen in the den with some of the cars going above 1 mil. Incredible. I always enjoy watching when Barrett-Jackson has some of the really hot stuff coming out of the late seventies and throughout the sixties. On the way back to Merritt Island, there were several \"oldies\" heading south, don't know if they were leaving a show or going to one. One other thing . . . my daughter had Tivo'd the UGA, Tech game. Did not watch it once, watched twice. Actually it was a strong game on both sides. I am having serious withdrawal . . . time to go offshore fishing, love that also.

Well Buc, you certainly live in the right place for that hobby. That hobby can get expensive as well. Would love to go to the B-J Auction this month in Palm Beach but can't, my wife and I may go to the Russo-Steele Auctions March 27-29th in Hollywood at the Hard Rock Hotel as Casino. Why don't ya'll join us, would be a blast (as long as I didn't want to buy anything... my wife would kill me).

averagedawg: I just have a problem of the chest thumping, finger waving and self promotion that seems to be so in vogue at the present time. What happened to handing the ball to the official after you score a TD and head to the sidelines like Mr. Walker did for the three years we were fortunate to have him. It's true the players are bigger and faster than the forties, fifties and early sixties, but that self promotion takes away a lot of the pleasure I got from attending and watching the game. Skin color does not play a part in my feelings. The game is just getting out of hand. Maybe I should just watch the Ivy League on TV. Ok car guys, Iv'e got a 1971 Datsun 240Z of which I am the orginal owner. Love the car and get waves and honks when I tool by some of so called sport cars of the modern era. Only has 189,000 miles on it. Everything is orginal except the wheels and steering wheel. Just imagine a 76 year old dude blasting by you in a 37 year old car on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of fun. As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!
