Well the football season has finally ended. What do we do now? I never have been a big fan of pro-football, I'm a college guy at heart. Someone asked me this morning if I had watched the Pro-Bowl game. I didn't even know it was being played. Watched the old Bob Hope Pro-Am golf tourney and was amazed that Sing blew a three stroke lead in the final three or four holes. What was the most exciting football game you watched this past season? I happened on the Yale vs Harvard game on the tube. What a game! There is a lot to be said about the Ivy League. No a athletic scholarships, just guys playing for the love of the game. No 300 lb plus lineman, no 4.3 runing backs and no Q-backs with rocket arms. These are true student-athletes. Yale lost, but it was an exciting game, more like SEC football in the forties, fifties and early sixties before college football became a money maker for the school and athletic department. What a shame to loose that sense of purity. Back then there were no special classes for the athletes, they attended class with the rest of the student body. If the couldn't cut the mustard in the class room, they were out of there in a hurry. Why has things changed? The almighty dollar is the answer. Just like everything else, I guess. What will I do in this off season? Watch college baseball in Athens and yes even attend a Tech game or two. Like I said I am not into pro sports of any kind. Georgia tennis looks good again this spring. Athens a fun place to watch the Dawgs play tennis. It even gives me a chance to say hello to Dan Magil again. I will attend the G-Day game, the only game I see in person, since I gave up my season tickets. It gives me a little idea of what to expect this fall. So much for my rambling. Have a great off season.
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!
