I'm glad this triggered so much discussion. averagedawg, you're absolutely right in that this is NOT a normal year. I think Kentucky beats Tennessee at home. I keep telling myself that the Sugar Bowl is a nice consolation prize, but I'm not going to kid myself. My goal at the beginning of EVERY SEASON is the SEC Championship. The only times I had a different goal (2003 and 04) I was sorely disappointed.

Look, the SEC is the ultimate goal. For ANY college team.

Not really.
If LSU looses a close one in the SEC Title game, then they will be out of the NC hunt but could very well still be ranked slot or two ahead of the Dawgs. If so, LSU goes to the Sugar Bowl.

You're right, GatorinGa. Even though I put \"regardless of what UT does\", I meant in the regular season, figuring it's a foregone conclusion that they would lose the SEC championship if they go. But even in your scenario(in which case I assume UT would go to the Sugar Bowl), if we win out, if not the Sugar Bowl, I still think we'd get a BCS bid.

Im pretty sure though at 10-2 in the SEC we should get an at large BCS bid.

Now that I think about it maybe not because as SEC champions Tenn. automatically gets a BCS bid, plus the BCS rules stipulate only 2 teams from each conference will be allowed in BCS bowls. Man how much would that blow.

Especially since 8 teams ranked No. 3 through ?? get an invite.
UGA would be ranked at least 8th.
Of course that is thinking ahead.
