Those that want to bench Beck... do you really believe Stockton offers you a better chance to win?
Yep. Last night? Sure do.
What you're implying by that question is that a guy who is throwing the ball to everyone except his own players is the best QB we have on our roster? You're saying that a heavily recruited 4 star (5 star ESPN) QB in Gunner Stockton, who was adored as a HS QB and had offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado State, Florida, West by God Virginia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, NC State, Ohio State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, and USC just all of a sudden is a worse option than a guy that has thrown 8 interceptions and 5 touchdowns in the last 3 games and looks completely out of his realm? This is the most dramatic QB meltdown I have ever seen.
If that's the truth and both Gunner Stockton or Jaden Rashada are not worthy options to come in and change up the game, then its time we ask what the hell we're doing as a program (recruiting AND coaching). As much as I crap on Dabo and as much as I loathed Saban when he was pacing the sidelines, they knew when to make a QB change. One of those QB changes cost us a National Championship, remember? That's called elite coaching. I'm not saying that Beck is benched for the season, but seriously - you change it up and see if someone else has the juice to not throw the damn ball away. Beck threw 3 pick against Florida, and if you watched that game, it should have been 5 picks. Now we hear that he and the receivers "need to get on the same page." We're now going to Week 11 and the QB and receivers "need to get on the same page?" Really? The only reason that Florida didn't beat us was because we are physically a more talented team and they didn't convert points on all the turnovers, but they had us on our heels, But once again, we did the unthinkable - turn the ball over 3 times in a big SEC game and somehow manage to win it. The luck is going to run out - this is going to cost us our season if Beck doesn't get his head right or Kirby doesn't make a change (spoiler - he won't).
Kirby says every position is always open for competition - except quarterback apparently. You so much as turn your head the wrong way if you're a defensive back and its next man up. But you're telling me that Gunner Stockton comes in and is going to do worse than Beck? I don't believe it and never will. Stockton was the class of 2022 - he's been under the program for 2 solid years behind both Bennett and Beck, and what, he's incapable of taking some snaps? If that really is true, then something is fundamentally broken.
