From Athens - Friday Mixed Bag 19-12-20

Good Morning All,

This will be a combo plate post.... Friday Mixed Thoughts from Athens... A non- Game Day Friday # 10 ... and a side of recruiting ....

Truly sorry that our seniors were the ones who got screwed with no home game tomorrow .. why in the name of hell did the wizards of Vanderbilt fire Mason before the end of the season and set this poop storm off..... I believe they would of played on the original date of 12/5.... if he had not been released...not going to effect their recruiting efforts.. it is not going to matter who the HC coach is... recruits.. go to Vandy for the prestige that a degree from Vandy carries...any prime HC or assistant will be in a bowl game.... so why the rush ?

With the new ESPN/ABC/SEC networks TV contract that is scheduled to start in 2024 each SEC school will revive a $20 million raise per season plus any bowl review...

I Don’t think Vandy will think about leaving the SEC anytime soon... and walk away from that large payout....

The other SEC schools will enjoy having a conference cupcake..... to play.

Congratulations to our HC and staff on another successful recruiting year... again focusing on position needs.... and keeping in state talent from going out of state..... this was very challenging task without any on campus visits or being able to meet in person with recruits. Well done!!

It seems fairly certain that we will make a New Year’s Day Bowl ....If nothing weird happens with the conference championship games..

As we prepare for Christmas let us remember the reason for the season..

So we face undefeated Cincinnati in the Peach.

They will come in with a huge chip on their shoulder and something to prove while we will come in with players opting out and probably some disappointment about not even being able to be somewhere other than Atlanta.

UGA should have their "Senior Day" on the field before the bowl game.

Leads me to a different subject though, and that is how utterly screwed up college football has become. The CFP committee made a couple of errors; Texas A&M and Cincinnati. Ohio State plays what 6 total games, 4 of which were basically exhibition games? Notre Dame gets waxed by a full compliment of Clemson players? Remember those heady days where when you lost meant something?

As far as Cincinnati goes, if teams from conferences like there's can go undefeated and still be 2-3 slots away from making the CFP then they need to withdraw from this division. Especially in a year like this one where the PAC-10 was basically a non-entity.

The Power 5 should have their own division and the rest of the D1 conferences should form a new division of college football.

Anyway... yearly CFP rant /over.

A thing or two . . . .
I follow UGA and UCF throughout the year. Watched the Bearcats and Knights game in Orlando this year. Cincinnati is impressive. Head coach has his team playing well as a team. Defense aggressive. Offense, solid passing game. This is not a team to take lightly. Quite frankly, much stronger than Notre Dame overall. Cincinnati beat UCF 36/33. UCF was/is not a cream puff. Good time to get a preview of UGA and 2021 expectations. Looking forward to this game.

It now becomes a reveal opportunity for underclass men to get more playing time.... I believe CKS understands the

Landscape and what a Cincinnati win would mean .... to the Dawgs.. and won’t overlook the fact that they will come to play...

We learned from playing Missouri... that players and coaches can make adjustments that produce impressive results...
