Means a lot to our program(s) overall when several sports step up. Smart and Crean are attempting to raise the level to meet what many of us believe to be needed "repair" from the "ground up". This is not the Athens that was allowed to be run by the "back room" for far too long. Those empty seats that were becoming more and more an issue under the previous watches prove once again that FANS MATTER. Money "still" talks . . . .
Reading the paragraph below reminds me of times past when our coaching staff chose not to continue our relationship(s) in Columbus, Georgia. Huge part of our football miscalculation(s). Kirby Smart put an end to that stupidity. Tom Crean in his first year as our head basketball coach, moves in the same direction that Kirby Smart did . . . . involved with Atlanta AAU community. Atlanta AAU had been utilized a lot by coaches and universities that truly wanted a basketball program. High fives Coach Crean.
AAU coach Winfred Jordan of the Atlanta XPress, posing with Anthony ‘Antman’ Edwards shortly before his announcement Monday, has long felt that Georgia should do more to engage the Atlanta AAU community and believes Tom Crean will be benefit from an improved relationship. (Chip Towers/DawgNation)
But dang, just looked at the uga bb record and lots of ugly losses getting to the 1-10 current conference record. What is Crean making a year? Heck, old coach Scoob could squeak out one conf win. Just don’t see this guy doing much better than the past guys.
And it’s all about recruiting, even more so in bb than fb. I have never heard of the antman before logging on tonight. Will be surprised if he being the number one recruit doesn’t sign with Kentucky. If I were the ky coaches I’d be mentioning Dominique Wilkins career.
Edit...just saw uga signed the antman. Maybe Coach Crean will be a better coach now.
Edit2...congrats on signing numero uno. Quite an accomplishment for a 1-10 team.
