This could be Hardman's breakout game. Mecole has been really close more than once to breaking a couple of returns for points on the board. Would not be surprised if this is the game.

Buc! Every time Hardman touches the ball I jump up! Kid is fun to watch and I concur, this may just be his “Big Game”...

Interesting fact about regular season rematches that occur in conference title games. We assume its very difficult to beat the same team twice, especially when they are good enough to make the title game, but in the 33 times it has happened, the team that won in the regular season won again 20 times. In fact, it happened to UGA in 2003 when we lost to LSU 10-17 in the regular season and lost again to them in the SECCG.

Now don’t get me wrong... I don’t think a stat like that means ANYTHING as far as predicting future results. It absolutely has no bearing on our game, or the UCF/Memphis TCU/OK and other games where it is occurring.

It’s just I like to look at fact vs wifely held perception, and regarding beating a team twice in the same season being really tough; it isn’t true.

Although I will say I think it’s going to be true today in the SEC championship. We will be the 14th time it’s happened.

GO DAWGS.

Sadly, Wartdawg is right. In SEC rematch title games, the record is 5-1, with the lone exception being 'Bama beating the tar out of LSU after losing 9-6 in their first game.

The team that wins the first meeting is usually the better team, especially when the score is lopsided.

However, sometimes a lopsided score isn't really indicative of relative strength as much as it's indicative of misfortune. The first game for us was actually pretty close until it broke open in the 3rd quarter. In fact, it was REALLY close until then. What led to the breakdown? VERY BAD discipline, HORRIBLE luck and a LOUD, HOSTILE stadium. Do you think Iowa would slobberknock Ohio State in a rematch in a neutral stadium? Probably not. I realize Auburn is better than Iowa, but the idea is the same.

I think we will NOT have the special teams break downs we had a few weeks ago. I think it was a BLOW UP game for us, and we blew up.

I see a close win.

UGA 27 Abuurn 21

Either that, or Abuurn 48 UGA 9

I'm going with the first.

GOOOOOO DAWGS!

While I do like to look deep into perception and see if fact backs it up, I also stand by the notion that prior performance is not guaranteed to be predictive of future results.

It is true that there is often a weaker side to a conference, and that the champion from the weaker side can make it to championship game easier and not be the same caliber of team. It is also true as thriller said that sometimes one game’s result is due to a perfect storm of misfortune and mistake.

20 times the previous winner won again.

13 times they did not.

Let’s remember that this team we are playing got beat by LSU.

We are not predestined by history. We are destined by what we do on the field today and today only.

Go Dawgs.
