From Athens- Game Day Friday #13

Good Day All,

Still working on getting use to the success with our football team…..

Enjoying rare air…..

Have my rambling shirt on….

Repeating…. Most enjoyable winning the SEC East without depending on another teams help…. Yes Kentucky lost to Ole Miss which sealed the deal…. but we backed it up by winning our game against them…..

With just one glaring exception we have been focused the entire year…

As shared by myself and others here…. Success.. It’s the journey…. Not the destination…….

HC ….. culture change …huge part of his process….. we found out in year two…. This includes us Dawg Fans….

To all who felt the world ended with us having a 8-5 record last season..

Feeling better at 11-1… ?? ….with an opportunity for more….

My shared feeling that HC’s first year is 24 months long…. Agree second half has been far more enjoyable….. thank you Kirby…

Assburn….. Part 2…. Still urange…still strongly dislike….

Went back and watched our games starting with Appy State…

We here have often commented about sideline energy…how it was lacking in the late CMR years…. This is player and coaches both…actions and reactions…. Or lack of…….

Assburn Part 1

Even after scoring first… doing so fairly easily ….not our usual burst of emotion …. Then our “D” held them to 3 points instead of a TD..

Again …. A very Ho Hum reaction…..

IMHO…. This was a result of not being able to feed off our fan support..

While we were there it wasn’t the norm it has been this season… even in South Bend….

UT and UF we took the home crowd out of the game very early and never let them back in… not so with Auburn…

Make no mistake Auburn is a quality opponent ….. the best we played this year…. However… several things will be different in Atlanta…

Stoopid ….. mistakes….. players and coaches….

A week earlier HC made statement….. wants us to be the hunter and not the hunted…

End of first half.... Runs to protect against a sack instead of taking a shot down field before kicking FG…. Which was missed anyway…

To his credit ….. if he had it to do over.. a different approach would be used….

Well……. To me that says pretty much all of it….. we “Do” have a do over… my money says we will be back to being the hunter and not the hunted……

Last years ….. messy ups… UT.UF. Vandy and Nerds…. All checked as corrected this year… didn’t have the opportunity to correct Ole Miss…

This years ….messy up…. Assburn….. opportunity to correct sooner than next year here in Athens….

Game being played in Sanford..West ……. Huge…..

Welp fellas we are on the Eve of the biggest game in Kirby’s HC’n career at UGA. You can bet he isn’t leaving any stone unturned for this one! Even though I feel like Auburn is a little more physical than us I still give us a slight advantage for the mere fact that it’s hard to beat a team twice in one year. It’s gonna be one heck of a game either way!

I’m gonna be at the SEC Fanfare tomorrow if any of y’all are going to be around I’d love to say hi.

Should be a heck of a battle sflanagan21. One thing that I would add to the clip below . . . . Special Team play. Really like the way Mecole Hardman has developed. This could be Hardman's breakout game. Mecole has been really close more than once to breaking a couple of returns for points on the board. Would not be surprised if this is the game.

The line opened at Abuurn -3. It has now tightened. The current line is Abuurn -1.5 to -2.0.

Vegas has looked at the first game. They know that three of the four TD's Abuurn scored were DIRECT results of screw ups on special teams by us. Interestingly, take away 21 points from Abuurn's 40 points in the first game, and you get 19 points. 19-17 would have been a 2 point win for Abuurn.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

Neutral site game - nobody gets the 3 points for home field. Abuurn's win against Bama is factored in. It also didn't help us that Notre Dame got whipped by Miami and lost to Stanford.

After what was a GIANT win for Abuurn against us, they were only leading Louisiana-Monroe the following week by 14-7 at the half, before coming out of their hangover in the second half. Their win over 'Bama last week was even bigger than their game against us.

I'm hoping for a hangover for Abuurn, and at least a sore shoulder for Johnson. Take away our special-teams-keystone-cops routines, play with discipline and enjoy a louder crowd, and maybe . . .
