From Athens- Game Day Friday #9

Good Day All,

Heard Coach Kirby during a practice this week…. “you what to do something special…. You have to practice special “
Shades of CJP…… much of the same cloth in both coaches….

Many words posted here and elsewhere about changes to our football program…
At the top of my list….. changes to how we practice…..

Each practice is done with focus and stated objectives…. Getting better…

Never a better example…. You play game day the way you practice..

This is a reflection of the Bama way…. Engaged support staff and assistant coaches on the same page….. huge benefits…

Moving on to the game with the chickens…. At home….. again National TV..

We will be focused and not glassy eyed from being named the number one team in the country….

All the work in getting us to 8-0…… can be gone in a blink….

Redouble the effort…… new season… 0-0…… much still to be done..

Not worried about loading the box….. happens every game…

Front four for Florida same as last year which held Chubb and Sony
To 21 yds… true other position had new players…. However front four was move by our OL….. very effectively ……

Stay focused…. Start fast…. Get the home crowd into the game…

As Buc… noted….. win by one is just fine…. Get the “W”…

Saturday is Veterans Day…. Growing up this was a very important day..

To me it still is …. Thanks to all who have served and to those still on active duty…. God Bless and protect….

Good read, especially the message on practice. Pruitt really started it with this group, Smart had/has the time and the leading role to make sure those that had some time with Pruitt moved further ahead.

Keep that helmet on Julian Rochester. A learning moment in the gator game. Young man has a world of talent . . . . use it. Between the ears is very important.

Really don't see the Gamecocks running the football with a lot of success on Saturday. Every team worth its salt has to give it the "old college try". More and more think that we are going to see a lot of 3 man fronts Saturday. If that is the case, young quarterback for the Gamecocks will be forced to use his "wheels". Pressure will definitely be in his "area" all game. Good game for a lot of talented young men to gain some playing time against a worthy opponent. Graduation is going to leave a lot of positions open for those that like Saturday playing time. Supposed to be a large group of players attending the game that have a renewed interest in the Dawgs.

Word(s) out of Kirby's mouth when he arrived in Athens . . . . Leadership. Used that word over and over in 2016. Little doubt that the players bought in and now are setting standards for those that follow. We had heard much of the same prior to Smart and Company, somehow it never seemed to "stick". This group of coaches are not grinding both on and off the field to wind up playing "second fiddle" to any team, whether SEC or elsewhere.

From where I sit . . . . finally have some of the same feelings I once had when Erk coached and "preached leadership" back in the day . . . . way back in the day. Kirby Smart at the "controls" . . . . have a great feeling of landing safely.
