Thriller,
I agree with YD. The game plan will be to use what got us where we are. It's as certain that FU is going to stack the box as it is that UGA is going to run it. Let's see who wins. UGA is a power run team, so they're going to commit to the ground game right out of the gate. Bet on it. As fun as it is to see a big play downfield to get the crowd into it, Kirby is into psychology, and there's nothing more psychologically demoralizing that having a team run the ball down your throat possession after possession. It also wears out the D-line, and UGA's tactics are to out-physical the opponent by being better conditioned and let the defense start sucking all the oxygen out of the stadium in the 4th quarter. So while I do expect we'll see some clever play calling from Chaney, I expect it to be pretty much a carbon copy of what we've done thus far. Why? Because it works and because no one has stopped us.
That said, Fromm is going to have to throw the ball to loosen up the playbook. But he doesn't have to do anything spectacular, even though he's fully capable of it.
You ask me what my game plan would be? Defensively, exactly what we've been doing, except with a lot more anger, explosion and determination. Offensively, a combination of running split back pro formation, later work in some toss sweep left or rights depending on which guard is getting more push, jet sweeps, and I'd absolutely hit Swift or Michel on a quick pass in the flats and let them get 1 on 1 with the outside backers and corners. You get Swift or Hardman 1 on 1 and 7 times out of 10, they're not going to be tackled. For the passing game, shelf the wilddawg, and throw quick slants. After the running game is established, I'd let the defense bite hard on play action and start finding Wims, Godwin and Nauta downfield. I'd also make sure Woerner is a dark horse in the game who gets the ball at just the right time.
