Monday Thoughts . . . .

Coach Sam Pittman . . . .

Pittman currently is rated as the third most successful recruiter in the SEC. Outstanding when I think about the short time he has been in Athens.

Sam Pittman is the type person that young men listen to and "trust".

Another thing that I have noticed . . . . Coach Dell McGee and Pittman seem to spend a lot of time together recruiting. Makes sense to me when I stop and think about the positions the two coach. Offensive Line and Running Backs. Dell McGee is currently ranked as the sixth most successful recruiter in the SEC.

Might be that we have finally figured out what changes were needed, and it appears to be a successful approach to improving UGA Football.

This group of offensive linemen coming to Athens to prepare for the 2017 Season will line up against some very good defensive linemen and backers along with defensive backs. Couple of defensive linemen I keep my fingers crossed for could make Spring practice an absolute "war". From where I sit, this group of players already in Athens, having played one or more SEC seasons, will lead to what I believe will benefit UGA maybe more than ever. We are looking at "talent". Realizing that some of these players will be wearing the Red and Black for maybe three years. Lots to prove for those NFL scouts in a short time. Three years passes quickly, eh . . . .

Players with the talent we have coming in on the offensive line will be ready to go without wasting too much time. Isaiah Wilson no doubt is a very talented young man. This is where I am at . . . . the offensive linemen coming in for 2017 do not doubt for a minute their "talents".

Guess it still comes down to "coaching", excuses won't fly with talent this deep. Did I say "DEPTH" . . . . yep, a foreign word for many years in the Classic City.

Find this point interesting . . . .

Having some time on my hands, have gone back through "time" and read sport sections and media sports also.

This I find very interesting . . . . If you do the research, you will find those that have the answers "seldom" had anything to say about the offensive line. Back in time there was "chatter" about running backs and defensive linemen.

Don't trust what I just posted, check for youself.

Now, one would think that those posting about offensive lines and drawing paychecks knew all along what needed to be done. Think I am wrong . . . . do the research.

Dawgs.com and several of the members on this board have been on the stump for "years" about UGA Football and what "would" move our team forward.
Bet this . . . . if the media sees a gap, they will read and post. All about those "clicks" . . . . number on the checks move forward.

Moving on . . . . The single thing that Head Coach Kirby Smart can do not only to keep his job, but make many of us "happy" . . . . do not let Coach Sam Pittman get away. Say that for this reason, at this point . . . . I watched VD let the best college football coach in the country leave Athens and start a program from scratch. Once again I will post a video that I watch from time to time. Have posted this video for a reason and many times on this board . . . . it takes some longer to understand how things "should be" than others. Those covering our team, UGA, write for paychecks, nothing wrong with that when "they understand" the length of time some of us have been around and "understand" so much more. Copy being written that has "often" been written before.

As Erk said, all teams have good players, that is what a couple of board members have said. Noted and respected. I listen closely to what Erk had to say in the video, you?

Sam Pittman's and Erk Russell's come once in a lifetime.

Merry Christmas, Happy Honukkah and Kwanzaa.

Buc.. excellent post.... Embracing the OL isn't a wow or glitter and glitz....much like other glamour less jobs.....

It gets noticed when it under performs.... I agree we will have a learning curve with this young OL

However our 2017 non conference early schedule makes for a real plus for CSP teach as you play

A good possibility...

I post this with conviction . . . . I love Coach Erskine Russell for one "main" reason . . . . Erk was true to himself. Players understood that. I sincerely hope that Coach Smart is on the same path. I believe that Coach Pittman is.

Chattering a bit about different things. I want change, some of us have been around for a long time, have heard most of the "stuff" back into the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Nothing new has happen on our campus for "years' . . . . until now.

Not going to get into an argument about the head coach. This old fart is "excited" about improvements . . . . IPF, new coaching staff, beginning to think that Mahogany Row is getting the message.

From where I sit . . . . Too many folks tried to "shine the apple" for the "leaders" not the "teacher". I will be one of the first to speak up if the current "leadership" follows the same path that those before them did. I do not know or believe that we (UGA) are on the same page that we have been on for years . . . . and years.

If nothing has changed . . . . one simple thought . . . . Nick Chubb and Sony MIchel will wear the Red and Black in 2017. Yes, I know that others could leave, will not call names, all of us that follow UGA closely know "who is and who ain't".

This is for those that I still read posting on different sites chirping about the coaching change . . . . Mark Richt is the head coach in Miami. Coach Kirby Smart is "our" coach. Mark Richt will never return to Athens as a coach. Mark Richt has a "great" opportunity to be successful. Many that are not informed about South Florida . . . . believe this . . . . there is a tremendous amount of talent in the area that Richt has taken over. Just believe this if you do not believe anything else I have to say . . . . The "U" is going to come back and the "media" will be all over his firing.

One thing changes the "BS" about the coaching change . . . . Winners and Losers. Pretty simple. Both men and their staff will have talented players . . . . now what?

This old fart likes our recruiting efforts. Might be or probably is the best effort(s) I have seen since . . . . "ever".

I also know this when "chatting" . . . . there are a lot of very good players participating in College Football. Bounce of the football can change "any teams FAN base and thoughts" quickly.

If you did not watch or "listen" to what Erk Russell said in the video above, stop and play the video with "ears open".

Say again . . . . Coach'em Up!

One thing that excites me yankeedawg1 is "knowing" that Coach Sam Pittman has been on board for one season. Never, ever have I witnessed a coach with as much success as Pittman is having, that includes Erk.

Totally on board with Sam Pittman. More to coaching than x's and o's. Pittman "understands" the "other part" of recruiting. "Talent" is "obvious". Question . . . . who on this board or any of the media folks knew that Sam Pittman had Isaiah Wilson "wrapped" before the media release"?

If I am "any running back" that wants "holes to run through", would I not look closely to where Coach Sam Pittman coaches?

Spit, this is not Rocket Science. Coach Sam Pittman's salary is a pittance of what other coaches receive for doing less than half of what he does.

Is Sam Pittman a head coach . . . . cannot speak to that, without saying this . . . . why would Sam Pittman want that "stuff"? Sam Pittman is a coach that understands what he is very good at . . . . recruiting and coaching "any
ones offensive line". Ask the Arkansas Razorbacks head coach and players . . . . now ask "some" in Athens that have not had a clue for x number of years and would have all of us believe they "knew". Yes, Kirby Smart understood that his "success" was dependent on coaches like Sam Pittman.

Just "stuff" that I do not see in the media. Buc has fun tossing "stuff" out and reading "stuff" that they say "down the road" . . . . yes, they do that. When the media folks read "sites" they think I suppose that "we" on Dawgs.com don't know that. We are not "Russians", we do not have "secret servers" in our basement or elsewhere. There is always a "footprint" when you . . . . "snoop or borrow" material from Dawgs.com. Yes this board is sophisticated.

Go Dawgs :)
