From Athens- Friday Thoughts

Good Morning All,

Beautiful spring weather has blessed the Classic City this week.

I know it is just me but the spring has moved rather quickly this year.
Master’s and The Derby already in the books and Indy is less than 3 weeks away.

Is it because we have a new HC and there is a renewed energy around our football program…. Yes I know it’s all in my head…but still I am enjoying what is taking place in my hometown….. daily conversation starts with the upcoming season for many including myself… I like it a lot.

The satellite camp issue has popped up again..and with the unlimited texting of recruits…. HC says he will embrace the process…all about getting players…. Get with the new program or be rolled over by it…
Key for me is he is using this as a tool to attract players to Georgia….
Simple..hard to coach an empty bench…. Don’t think we will have a problem making our scholarship limit…. Truly interesting the numbers and quality of players nationwide looking at Georgia…. This is not just hyper media fodder.

New crop of pups to arrive shortly…. I believe team will be in football shape when camp opens…get after it from day one…

IMO….CSP is quietly putting together a OL with depth,size and skill…..
I am looking for this group to come out guns blazing and get better with each practice and game…. Our RB’s will love running behind this group….and QB will have time in the pocket…. All good and better..

Been thinking about all our Vets and their families…. Can’t say thanks enough…..

Sayonara Chauncey Rivers!!

Personal opinion, much more to Chauncy Rivers than not following rules. Many of these young men enjoy some "things". They also have the common sense to understand the meaning of "rules". Georgia is strict, much stricter than many universities.

Some like to say that every SEC University should have the same "rules" when it comes to Mary Jane. Situation is, that is not the setup in the SEC, and other universities outside the SEC.

Rivers is on a path that is not going to benefit him down the road. Loads of talent, football talent. Young puppy has a problem with "control".

Another sad case of the BMOC types that fail to understand that high school and college football are "two different worlds".

Chauncey, you will probably play elsewhere, but understand that the NFL keeps an eye and "suspense file" on college players. Wake up before you find yourself not being released from the "inside" having your photo taken (again) and the "prints" never disappear.

Not wishing you luck. Luck does not work in this case, not sure that counseling does at this point. Have to believe that you are a "bit too far" down the wrong road.

Sad.

Meant to add this . . . . Hate to see a young man that "appears" heading to the "street", admire Kirby Smart for his stance on the policies that he has to live by.

This bothers me, a lot.

Needs only to be "smart" and he could play in the NFL. Incredible talent.

Chauncey will play as I mentioned earlier, "somewhere". Many of the hard asses blogging bring Auburn into play. Say this, if Rivers latches on at Auburn or LSU or anywhere, it is time for him to "wake the F up". God given talent that he has, NFL worships that.
