Georgia, Alive and Well

“I loved the intensity of that practice,” he said. “You could tell the differences with these new coaches. Coach Smart is implementing some fight into those guys. It just looked like the coaches and players loved the game and were having fun and practicing with a champion’s intensity to get better. Georgia was not out there going through motions. Those players were getting taught some things and getting better. I thought Georgia was looking pretty good.”

Those words coming from a young man being recruited by Georgia, Stanford Samuels, III. Yep, another South Florida talent.

What I see happening is gratifying when looking back at past years. Those that are either on the team or have committed to UGA are doing an outstanding job of “recruiting”. Not to take away from the coaching staff, but these young men have bought into the way football is now being approached in Athens.

References being made to the “before and after” tell quite a story. These “newbies” are talking about National Championships, not winning the East as their reason for signing on with Smart and Company.

Bet this . . . . Kirby Smart and Company are not selling “winning the East”, goes a lot deeper than that. This group of coaches are battle hardened, understand SEC Football and how it is played on Saturdays. Understand that the bar is much higher now than for many years, going back, way back, not just 15 years.

Coach Smart is now looking for what I believe has been the missing link for too long . . . . leadership. Not from the coaching staff, they were hired by Kirby because they are teachers and leaders, looking for leaders that actually wear the pads. That will happen.

Coach Smart is going about leading our program in a way that is known to work, he is following in the footsteps of leader(s), more than one. Started with his Dad and continued under Nick Saban. Kirby Smart and you and I have a lot to look forward to. Football has done a 180 degree turn in the Classic City.

Say again . . . . B1G coaches know that Smart and Company hirings made UGA another thorn in their sides. Before we were understood by opposing coaches, our capabilities and the lack of top notch leadership. urban meyer proved that while carpet bagging in the SEC.

We now have a leader that shows one of the reasons why Alabama has been so successful under Nick Saban. Welcome home Kirby Smart.

Go Dawgs :)

An this . . . . Many members on Dawgs.com have had a thing or two to say about "Special Teams" over a long period.

Guess "we" had not been in the "arena" long enough to understand the ways of "some".

Did not take Coach Smart long to "correct", yes "correct" another failure of the previous head coach.

The above takes me to this . . . .

Anyone on this board think that we would have seen changes anywhere close to what we have seen since Kirby Smart arrived?

Kirby Smart is a Bulldog no doubt. Following the moves he is making, makes this old fart tired.

My time following the Georgia Bulldogs, will say this again . . . . only coach that I have watched with this way of teaching and motivating the players, Erk.

Coach Smart has a headlock on the things he wants to accomplish, would be advisable for those that think they are not being watched to think again.

Program was being run at a snails pace a short time back. That will not happen under Kirby Smart.

Have read many more clippings from players saying they are going to wear the Red and Black, something different in the way they describe Smart and Company. Different being, motivated. Will post some of what these young pups have to say about UGA Football from time to time.

Picks my spirits up . . . .

Go Dawgs :)

To be sure, I am ready for some UGA football.

It will be better and different, more intense, as can be noted in practice.

Players on the field will have earned a spot instead of inheriting it due to longevity.

I haven't even been near the practice field and I can notice the changes.

I don't expect miracles, just effort.

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sun shines on a different Dawg every day
