scooby, went back and read your post again. Couple of things.
You posted . . . .
One thing I keep reading is he had enough talent to win championships at uga, and then he didn't understand you need a deep offensive line to succeed. Only one of those can be correct.
If you read into what you said above, it has been one of the largest points of contention for years when Mark Richt was discussed. Both points that you make hit the nail on the head actually . . . . Lots and lots of talent, NFL rosters prove that point. On the issue of whether or not Richt's coaching, hiring coaches or recruiting succeeded, did not play out on the football field. Remember this, some of the biggest mistakes, coaching mistakes were made several times by the head coach. No, Mark Richt proved he is not and was not an elite college football coach.
Mark Richt has a clean slate some think with his new job in Miami. Be advised, there are some in South Florida or Florida in general that know Richt's record in Athens. Have heard that some in Florida will not hold MR's feet to the fire . . . . anyone that believes that is 100% wrong. The "U" is wanting to return to their days of winning football . . . . Mark Richt covered himself again on the money angle you mention. Got that four year contract at four million a year. Gets replaced, walks away with his pockets full . . . . again.
Simply put . . . . Mark Richt was treated with respect while in Athens. His failures to produce against certain levels of SEC competition was his downfall. Richt is not and was not rated that high among those he coached against. Just saying.
