Building A Foundation -- Long Past Due

Having given this some thought . . . .

Over the past years, has the media really been concerned with team play?

Example . . . . Jacob Eason has received column after column from those that profess to know and understand Georgia football.

Not until recently have we seen, read or heard column after column of print concerning those that actually coach young men like Jacob Eason, and for the media and all its hype, Jacob Eason needs to be coached.

In my opinion, we have had more than one or two offensive line coaches just as an example that were all but ignored, until members on this board made a big issue concerning the subject of what makes a young man like Jacob Eason be all he can be.

Even with the coaching changes at this point in Athens, the media does not in my estimation give fair play to those that work with the players every day to improve Georgia football.

Just a short time from now, it will be the same as it was when Coach Will Friend was with us. Media had Friend fired after the first year, second year they eased up just long enough to say there “seemed” to be “some improvement”.

Anyone that really looks closely enough at the Georgia Football program understands that Kirby Smart stepped on Bret Bielema's toes and hired what some in the world of college football believe to be the best or one of the top offensive line coaches in D1 football.

For sure our new head coach understands how to build a team. The last head coach was all about flash and dash football players. Damn hard to flash and dash if there is no hole.

Last couple of days there have been a couple of articles in the media about Smart's hire of a offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Soon there will be nothing about these hires, especially the offensive line coach. Happened to every offensive line coach at Georgia under the previous coach for 15 years.

Am I glad that Jacob Eason is coming to Athens . . . . you betcha. Am I glad that we now have a head coach that knew one area of our football team that needed immediate attention, right again.

As long as I am a part of Dawgs.com, I will certainly pay attention to the “skill players”, guessing those reading this understand my belief is that the offensive line has to have “several skill players” for Jacob Eason to become what so many have come to expect.

Mike Bobo hired as head coach at Colorado State University . . . .

First hire for his staff . . . . Offensive Line Coach, Will Friend.

Maybe Mike Bobo knows the best way to build his offense. Damn good beginning hiring Coach Will Friend.

Where would the Washington Redskins and John Riggins have been if they had'nt of had the "Big Ugglies". I can't think of a better example than that, one of the best OL's ever.

Chief, one thing for sure . . . . Nick Saban knows what is needed to reach the Final Four. Another lesson learned by Kirby Smart under Saban's watchful eyes.

Like the direction so far. Hate to lose some that had changed much of the mess in Athens.

Some in the media playing up big time the fact that we have had several young men drop out from the recruit list.

Coaching at this point on the offensive side seems to be ready to build. Have no doubts that several of the new hires have some aces up their sleeves. Name recognition means a lot to these young players. Name recognition has paid off handsomely for Nick Saban, eh . . . .

Gurley, Marshall, Chubb and Murray were basically hung out on the line to dry.

Injuries are inevitable, no dispute there.
But it does help to have that stone wall protecting you.

Chief, once upon a time, many of us that followed NFL football, living in the South, Washington Redskins were our team. Names like Eddie LeBaron, all 5'7" height wise. Marine war hero. Died April of this year at age 85. The "Little General". RIP.
