IMO the Eason visit was a "heads up" for the upcoming changes.

MR probably also asked them to stay out of the media while it happens by giving them a sneak preview.

2 cents

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

Think Mark Richt was spot on when he said . . . .

Wish I had maintained more control of the play calling and quarterback tutoring.

See where some are discussing offensive coordinator. Reasonable thoughts.

My thoughts on an offensive coordinator will be handled by the next head coach in a way that it has been handled in Tuscaloosa. If Kirby Smart is the next head coach, he will have a list of potential coordinators that will fit nicely into "his way" of running the team.

I have mentioned a time or two that I would like to see a head coach that has an extensive background in defensive coaching.

My main concern after watching the Richt/McGarity press conference is that McGarity returned to his alma mater and was welcomed with open arms. Since his return, McGarity has not been one of my favorites, for a variety of reasons. Still not.

One thing I would bet the farm on . . . . Kirby Smart returning would have a far greater effect on the "vault" that McGarity so closely guards.

Another point. I am not sure that McGarity would give Kirby Smart the leeway that South Carolina would. Smart serving under and close to Saban will want some liberties. That my friends could be one of the deciding factors.

There will be a lot of opinions here and elsewhere. Offensive coordinator does not top the list for me at this point. Offensive and defensive linemen have my attention. Kirby Smart "understands" that.

I think that McGarity may realize that his ass is also on the hot seat.
He shares the blame for our recent failures.

I think you can win with a bunch of OC's and offensive styles if you have the players on the line. Seems to me that is what makes a lot of offenses flow.

My support of Smart stems from the fact that I feel pretty strongly that he will build the team from the lines out instead of from the perimeter in, something I mentioned in another thread that was sorely needed here.

I also feel there are some on our staff that we need to try and hold onto if at all possible, and I think a Smart hire would give us the best chance of that. I think someone coming in from too far outside wouldn't and would be more likely to want to clean house and replace with his own guys. Smart's hire seems to me to be the smart hire for so many reasons, and the main reasons are the line of scrimmage and
the least disruption to what good we already have going on.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Notice more and more through the recent years Wartdawg that folks are beginning to recognize that great running backs need good or great offensive lines.

Also, defensive backs appreciate having a defensive front that can produce pressure. For too long much of our quarterback pressure has come from our linebackers. That is ok, it however tells me that there is a missing link defensively . . . . defensive linemen.

Truth ^ ^ ^ ^

Do not mean to be ugly.

Our offensive front again was not up to the standards that Kirby Smart understands wins games. Makes no difference if his specialty is on the defensive side of the ball. Erk said . . . . they don't score, they don't win.

Nick Saban is a defensive specialist, a lot more than that but that is his common tag. Isn't it interesting that Saban coached teams have outstanding "offensive lines". urban meyer understands. That last statement hurt.

Do not bring Dan Mullen to Athens. HUGE MISTAKE.

If Mullen is hired I think I would go into a deep depression.

Talked to my contact this morning and he said from one source, "no need to worry about them hiring Mullen, it's not going to happen".

We'll see if he's right......I'm on my knees.
