Here is to the older vets who were part of WW2. At the time of this picture my dad was a couple hundred yards down the mountain flushing Japanese out of caves with flame throwers and satchel charges and getting PTSD.
Take care of our Vets. They put it all on the line for you.
In the right side you can see the landing craft on the black sand beaches. Already loading some of the 6,800 American servicemen killed taking the island.A few of these guys in the picture were killed soon. Read more at...

Sadlerdawg, I was stationed aboard the amphib LSD 34 (Hermitage) back in the 70's, and we carried many Marines with their LARC's close to shore for many exercises. Some of the finest people I've ever had the privilege to know. I also got to associate with the fine Marines that were stationed at 8th and I while stationed in DC. I have the utmost respect sir.
