Wartdawg, understandable the hiring of Schottenheimer. First, no NFL offers. The NFL now has a "history" in the "suspense file" on Schottenheimer.
Richt needed someone as close to a clone of himself as he could get. Did not want to go through some of his previous hires that did not want to link up with him. Saban and others "speak" football folks "listen". McElwain in the past few weeks has mentioned Saban and what he learned in Tuscaloosa.
Moving along, going to say this, first time for me. What is going on with Rocker and the defensive line? I believe in allowing "time", especially if improvement is noted. Here again we mention "next year". Problem with that . . . . our head coach has had "14 next years" not counting his first year. Games like the one yesterday don't really help with recruiting defensive linemen (and others).
Reason I mention Rocker, the gators hired a new defensive group. Proves the point that "coaching and motivation" play a huge part in outcomes. Not going to dismiss Pruitt either, he is responsible for the defensive alignments, something ain't right. Beginning to wonder if we are seeing more ACC type defenses as compared to SEC defenses.
Think most of us felt the new hires had really changed the recruiting at Georgia. AJC was loaded with recruit talk. There was a noticeable upturn in young in state players buying into another heavily promoted media campaign. Mentioned earlier in the week, and it has been said by many, many others . . . . what happens to that talent in Athens? What happens with the talent that select Alabama as their team of choice? Can't argue statistics unless . . . . you are "still" a believer in a Mark Richt coached(?) football team.
Going to be surprised if Richt does not lose his "base support" or a large percentage of his support after his dismal showing in 2014 and maybe surpassed in 2015.
Folks, I have a pretty good handle on what is happening in Florida and once again Jeremy Foley "corrected, say again CORRECTED" his mistake of hiring muschamp. The Florida "base" is on fire, not good for the East Side of the SEC. His recruiting is not based on one strong armed quarterback. I said that.
Alabama, Tennessee and Florida thus far, anyone wondering whether or not we lose two or more in 2015?
Public Relations Group has its work cut out for now. There will be enough apologists to get things calmed down with "next year" chatter. Will also be interesting to me what McGarity has to say in the near future. Said he reads emails . . . . wonder how many he answers? My opinion, another hiring failure, McGarity.
Stop with this . . . . If Faton Bauta does not start next game, shows the total incompetence of the head coach. 33 passes from a running quarterback with a noodle arm, my my who and why should we question a 4 million dollar plus head coach and close to a million dollar offensive coordinator. Must be the players, right? BS.
