Still trying to absorb what I saw in the Georgia/Missouri game.
Good place to start is with the offensive line.
The three best performers consistently up front are the center and both guards. #54 will get after you, that does not change. Also, seems to have settled in snapping the ball. #77 is a bad man. Playing football in college just like he did in high school, nasty. #73 more than likely will leave for the NFL. #71 and #75 are Seniors and the two of them like the game of football, talent wise, don't see bright futures in the NFL.
#71 was eaten up by the Missouri defense. All night. I had a problem with him getting no help and finally some help did come late in the game. Someone figured out that maybe inserting a tight end to help might give a very erratic quarterback a little more time. It helped, a bit confused why those in charge would not make the move earlier. On occasion it is said on this board that every play starts with the snap of the ball. Georgia has been a team for years that did not understand the “true value” of offensive linemen. Have they learned anything from the past few years, not the past few games? Your guess is as good as mine, and it would be a guess.
Takes me to this. Have mentioned on occasion that the gators are playing grown man football. Anyone that has watched their defensive line in action, they come to play every down, do not sluff off, period. Missouri's defensive line is good, can only get better. gators defensive line is SEC ready right now. Probably a very good thing that we have a week off prior to the game in JAX. Feel sure there are some bruises that need a rest. Say this. If the starting gator quarterback had not been “fired” they probably would have beaten LSU.
Have more to say about different aspects of the Georgia/Missouri game. Trying hard to control my feelings about one of the worst coached games from an offensive standpoint that I have seen . . . . ever.
Hard to get excited when I see the same problems, game after game and year after year. It was a win, congratulations to the “football players”. Coaches do you ever have the feeling that you need to “back up” in the “pay line”?
