Question.
Why did we (UGA) all of a sudden decide that everything that was going on with our football program needed a wholesale overhaul?
Don't think it was all of a suddne. The dissatisfaction boiled over because of the nature of the losses, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory twice and losing to the Gators in an off-year and the magnitude of the lost opportunity(SECCG and first playoff).
Do those that follow UGA football see any significant changes being made in Athens?
See some definite differences on the field on defense. I don't follow recruiting closely enough to know if that was better/worse or the same. Don't know if it's enough to change the record, especially with the Tide on the schedule.
Why is it that most of our new hires somehow have the State of Alabama football programs seeping into our UGA program?
Copycat game and success breeds success. Also, those guys probably see the untapped potential in Athens.
Regardless of which side any of us are on, (meaning pro Richt or anti Richt) unless I miss my guess (again) I see a different kind of coaching and teaching talent reaching our “shores”.
Quality of assistants is very high imo.
Believe I see this. Without our head coach saying it publicly, Mark Richt has “asked for help”. If not, looking at some of the recent hires, maybe my glasses need to be cleaned.
Not asking Mark Richt to get on his knees, (don't play with that statement, made from a different direction than some might want to go) hoping against hope that somewhere in his “Head Coaching Brain” he will not make the same mistakes that his mentor made.
He's not blind and he sees who has done well. Again, some of the issues are in the DNA. If Pruitt and gang are as good as advertised, the DNA may have just changed. 1) Don't spit the bit in a clutch situation, 2) don't come out for huge games flat and 3) beat 'bama and I'll be most of the way to convinced. Still a lot to prove.
