Good parenting showing itself in our latest commit. Reminds me a lot of the Sam Vaughn commit.
Some conversation about Sage Hardin on the internet.
There is chatter about Sage’s lack of pass blocking skills. Playing football at Marist, one of the few teams that are running the wishbone this day and time.
What I do like about Sage is the ability to run block. If we look at our incoming backs and those already on campus, all are more noted for their running skills than pass catching ability.
Somewhere in the scheme of recruiting, there has to be a plan. My thoughts are that we will see our football team running the football a very high percentage. Yes, I know that it is a good thing to be somewhere around 50/50 running and pitching.
My way of thinking it pays dividends if we can run and move the chains. Watching a replay today of South Carolina and Wisconsin, Badgers making the defensive line of the Gamecocks look less than over powering. South Carolina defensive linemen with hands on their hips, not for one series, much longer than that.
Back to Hardin. Now is the time when we find out more about Will Friend. There has to be a reason that Friend offered the scholarship. Sage listed at 6’6” and 260 pounds. Anyone that has been around college football these days know that adding weight/muscle happens at a much quicker pace than the high school training and playing days.
Couple of articles I have read mention the fact that Alabama, Auburn and LSU did not offer Hardin. At this time Alabama is riding high and they will get the higher rated offensive linemen. Seems that Auburn is pointed in that direction also. So, comes a time when our offensive coordinator and offensive line coach have to make up lost ground. I still believe that Will Friend will, beginning this season, turn some heads with his teaching skills.
Sage Hardin is the type of player that won’t get a lot of press, has not to this point, he however will become a very good offensive lineman wearing the Red and Black. Have always liked to see offensive linemen come into the college game having to add weight, not take the weight off. I still refer to that weight as . . . . Baby fat. Seems to me these days that conditioning is on a different level. Have to say this . . . . Jeremy Pruitt seems to believe that is the path to success.
So, Sage Hardin is rated by the “know it alls” as a 3***star performer. Will be interesting to follow his college career. Welcome aboard Sage, makes this old fart happy that you “wanted” to play football in Athens. Wishes do come true . . . . As the saying goes . . . . Ball is in your court now Sage Hardin.
P.S. Do have my fingers crossed hoping that Chuma Edoga has a change of heart and enrolls at Georgia.
