Good Morning All,

Last Friday in June …….. Yea !!!!

Next week we are down to single digits and looking at the start of fall camp in just a month.

The last SEC team to win the NC with a one year QB was Assburn with Scam

CTR was on the coaching staff of that team

I like the fact we have several coaches on staff that have been to the show and won some more than once.

No substitute for experience. Players tend to listen to those who have the rings

Now I am not reaching and saying that HM has the same skills as Scam

No, however the offense around him is better IMO

Scam had a defense that saved his bacon more than once on the way
To a NC

Looking back before the start of last season how both FSU and Assburn
had questions about how well their season would go

As I remember it was Bama’s NC to lose which they did

Point being Dawgs have questions and concerns but also have a boat load of company as other

also have issues to address

Since January there have been some pretty big and noticeable changes within our program. What has my interest is the not so big and flashy ones.

We gained a experienced WR from NC State and a quality walk on QB from FL who passed up a

scholarship to a quality university to commit to the “G” Nothing about these two that shout “ME” a very good thing

Pause and give thanks

Have a great weekend and a safe week

As always “Go Dawgs”!!!

Go Dawgs!

yankeedawg1, right you are on the talent descriptions.

I look at young men like Sam Vaughn and it makes me wonder . . . . to a degree. Here is a young man that runs the 40 in 4.4's, plays football against some of the best in Florida. Book work, whether playbook or academics, not a problem, for one (1) reason . . . . he appplies himself to the task at hand.

Takes me to this . . . . Many out there fighting for readership in what has become a dog eat dog market. Young men like Sam Vaughn don't receive the same coverage that the "promoted ones" do. Reading almost every "supposed" football expert in the media, amazing how it is that they can distribute the *****star system to "certain athletes". Little bit like some football coaches, they have their favorites, for whatever reason. That can be both good and bad.

Too many young men (BMOC) that find their way to the *****star lists and do so because of their football talents alone. Books, scruples, life skills, don't exist in too many of these young lives.

Yes I know that everyone wants the best football team, the best players, but I believe we have to at some point question just how it is these young men get there. What happens to these young fellows that don't make the 1% or so that make it to the NFL? Going to say something that will probably pp some folks off.

My daughter is a teacher in elementary school. We are close and talk often about life and other things of course. Daughter says to me that I would not believe the lack of parenting that so many of our young folks fail to receive. To the point of being criminal.

Quoting what was said in another thread on this board . . . . Give me 11 like Sam Vaughn. He will carry his own water when he arrives in Athens.

On football . . . . There "appears" to be a new day in Athens. Jeremy Pruitt will not put up with the sins of the past. Not saying he is pure, but he does take playing on his side of the ball seriously. Ask two or three of the BMOC types that none of us prior to Pruitt's arrival would have been released in the fashion that they were. Don't know the outcome of the Jeremy Pruitt story, has not been written in the Classic City as yet. Do know this, something is different, would call it needed change.

Will stop.

Have a great weekend yd1, all is well that ends well. :)

Time to pass out a acknowledgement to CMR first I am not looking at the motivation which

We can debate and never reach a agreement. For me the results and there potential out weight

The reasons. It was a given CJP would hire a staff that reflected him and his

Goals. CMR went ahead with the hire. While we yet to play a game with this staff a note of

thanks to CMR for moving us On and closing the book on Towel Toddy.

Have 2 daugherinlaws that teach Jr high. More day care duties than teaching and learning

Sad for the kids and teachers. Go Dawgs

Post spot on yd1....gets the blood moving.

Imo, AU won the NC not because of Cam....it was because of Nick Fairley. He dominated Oregon, their offense never had a chance....he lived the whole game in their backfield.

uh....D wins championships I believe I've heard that mentioned somewhere.

Been hearing more chatter lately....the seaosn is around the corner. Kinda "feel" it when you listen loud enough.

Going to a great cruise-in tomorrow that will be joined by a "race" that started 7 days ago in Maine and has traversed down the east coast with the next to last stop here in Jax. Will be a fun time....extra one in my friend's cooler for ya yd1, wish you were down here to enjoy it with us.

Great weekend everyone. :)

YD1 I also have a daughter that taught in DeKalb county school system for 13 yrs. Spent more time correcting students than teaching the courses that were assigned to her. Now she is working on her doctorate in physical therapy in fl. She & my son both attended DeKalb county schools then under Jim Cherry when that system was considered the best in the nation. It's gone to H in a basket along with DeKalb county as a whole. Time marches on, but not for the better. She got her under grad & masters exercise physiology at UGA. My son, although, a four year regular at UGA's football camps went to API (old name for Auburn). Degreed in Forestry. Love them both, but sometimes makes UGA vs Auburn games a little bit testy.

For what it is worth yankeedawg1. I do believe that Mark Richt at one point was so "wrapped" up in being much more than a football coach. That I think in some cases works against rather than for. Exactly the way that Bobby Bowden ran his program at FSU. Same thing happened there that has in part happened to us.

Young men with athletic skills tend to get away with too much in high school. Don't care if we are discussing 1940/50/60 etc, easy enough to get the point. I have seen it, a part of that at one point.

Believe that Mark Richt became very frustrated and it boiled over with the incident in Atlanta with IC. If we look past the happening with IC, we begin to see Richt become a bit less moderate in dealings not only with players, but the press. Some lessons are learned the hard way and I do believe Mark Richt has learned a lesson and it is beginning to show another side of him. That is not to say that I am on board with Mark Richt as the head coach, because I too have reservations about Richt understanding the game of football on the highest level.

Many of these young men are wound pretty tight, tight to the point of being rebellious. IC, and several that have followed along the same line are proven cases that our head coach was being taken to the streets in some cases. Mark Richt was a very good offensive coordinator. Richt also had an enormous amount of player talent when he assumed the duties of offensive coordinator while at FSU.

This thingy with Richt/Bobo and Company, Pruitt/Rocker and Company will take a short time to either prove itself out one way or the other. Natives are getting restless, that I believe is one of the main reasons that Jeremy Pruitt was hired. University of Georgia needed a ying to go along with the yang.

Just one old far chirping . . . . again.

DawgDoc, Jim Cherry was probably the best Superintendent ever in the State of Georgia. School systems all over the country could use the likes of Superintendent Cherry.

Alabama Polytechnic Institute, telling your age again. You old fart. :)
