yankeedawg1, right you are on the talent descriptions.
I look at young men like Sam Vaughn and it makes me wonder . . . . to a degree. Here is a young man that runs the 40 in 4.4's, plays football against some of the best in Florida. Book work, whether playbook or academics, not a problem, for one (1) reason . . . . he appplies himself to the task at hand.
Takes me to this . . . . Many out there fighting for readership in what has become a dog eat dog market. Young men like Sam Vaughn don't receive the same coverage that the "promoted ones" do. Reading almost every "supposed" football expert in the media, amazing how it is that they can distribute the *****star system to "certain athletes". Little bit like some football coaches, they have their favorites, for whatever reason. That can be both good and bad.
Too many young men (BMOC) that find their way to the *****star lists and do so because of their football talents alone. Books, scruples, life skills, don't exist in too many of these young lives.
Yes I know that everyone wants the best football team, the best players, but I believe we have to at some point question just how it is these young men get there. What happens to these young fellows that don't make the 1% or so that make it to the NFL? Going to say something that will probably pp some folks off.
My daughter is a teacher in elementary school. We are close and talk often about life and other things of course. Daughter says to me that I would not believe the lack of parenting that so many of our young folks fail to receive. To the point of being criminal.
Quoting what was said in another thread on this board . . . . Give me 11 like Sam Vaughn. He will carry his own water when he arrives in Athens.
On football . . . . There "appears" to be a new day in Athens. Jeremy Pruitt will not put up with the sins of the past. Not saying he is pure, but he does take playing on his side of the ball seriously. Ask two or three of the BMOC types that none of us prior to Pruitt's arrival would have been released in the fashion that they were. Don't know the outcome of the Jeremy Pruitt story, has not been written in the Classic City as yet. Do know this, something is different, would call it needed change.
Will stop.
Have a great weekend yd1, all is well that ends well.
