Pruitt and Rocker are not looking for "part time players". When we look at some that have passed throught, one in particular mentioned above by yd1, IC on the sideline. If not enough, IC with a pistol in the car with numbers removed. Good lawyer beat the case. Good on Mark Richt for releasing IC.
Matthews, what is there to say other than he did not develop this attitude once he arrived on campus in Athens. All of the high school "video" he put in, lead many of us to think that we had a serious SEC football player. He was serious, serious about things other than a good education and with his BMOC ATTITUDE.
Pruitt and Rocker know that this type of player will keep our defense in a mess. Bad attitudes tend to find their way into the others players thoughts.
My bet is this . . . . Matthews said that he had planned to leave anyway. OK. That shows just who he is. If he was leaving as he said, what was he doing disrupting a class? (Not the first time) Tried to make "small" of his actions and it did not go over with the professor. Good on the professor. Left Mark Richt with little room to wiggle. Don't know that he wanted to, but an open story such as the latest BS by Matthews forced Richt's hand. Good on Mark Richt.
There is not a doubt in my mind that Matthews would have a hard time had he stayed to get playing time in 2014. Came down to player or coach. Pruitt/Richt won this one.
grantham was allowed to run the defense his way. Same will apply to Pruitt/Rocker, Richt is an offensive coach that passed along the play calling to Mike Bobo. Pruitt is a defensive coach, do the same with Pruitt that was done with grantham, his area of expertise, and might add has been successful thus far. Get out of his/their way and we will see something "different" and maybe a whole lot better.
One more thingy. I have had enough of this 5-star business coming from the media. Coaches that know and ply their trade are not reading the media hype, they are grading these young players in high school from eyes on experience. Many times a player does not get the "stars" but put the pads on and it becomes evident that coaching experience is different than media hype.
grantham wanted "big men". Pruitt/Rocker want football players, young men that can and will play "4 quarters" in the SEC.
This young man I hope makes his way to Athens, apparently our defensive coaches want him. Defensive backs leaving and being dismissed, makes room for impressive young men like this.
