ECHO in the room . . . .

There has been conversation on this board about the future of college football.

Several things come into play when discussing college football . . . . NCAA, NFL, M&M.

First. The NCAA as we have known it is dead.

Second. NFL. Shaking in their boots. Now they are talking about expanding the NFL Playoffs to more games. Unheard of until colleges started to bring the subject into play.

Anyone that doubts the power of M&M (Disney) better get a grip on the future of ALL SPORTS. Remember this, Disney only plays with others when "they" have complete control. Subject has been approached on this board, very little chatter here, folks get mad "after" they have been "used". Too late to "chirp" at that point.

Players in college and the NFL are beginning to bring "issues" to the table. NFL does not like that, but the future is clear from where I sit.

The future . . . . we have discussed this before, and here it is again. M&M got together with the "strongest" college football conference in the country (SEC). Never doubt that Disney will bring the NFL to their knees, if need be.

Anyone remember a while back when the M&M conversation was trying to get some "footage" here? Remember some of the posts that said, "you and I have not seen anything yet"? Strap on your headgear, the future is now.

Article below says many of the things that we have tried to bring up here. One member that I remember posting to this in a big way was Goose. Comments to the article say a lot.

Edit: Have no way of knowing of course, but wonder if anyone reading this thread has opened the video above with Mark Dantonio speaking at the 25 second mark. From where I sit, this head coach is spot on. Allow me this . . . . If I could choose one coach to lead the Georgia football team, Dantonio is my choice. Many names have been bandied about for several years, some really high profile coaches that deserve to move up. Not being ugly, still looking for leadership at the top. Something along the lines of the VA. Shinseki, good "field General", terrible manager of the VA. Wonder if that makes those that read this board think along the "same lines". Just asking, not Just askin . . . .

If you have not opened the video, here it is . . . .

One of the first articles that I read this Memorial Day morning. One thing that got my attention was the mentioning of Mark Dantonio's name in the comment section of the article below.

Another thought. University of Georgia comes away with great talent most years on the recruiting trail. Common to see us ranked in the top ten and even higher sometimes. Anyone that has read the article or reads it now for the first time . . . . see Mark Richt's name in the group? Seem also to remember a poll recently about the top coaches in the SEC. Seems Richt was either 4th or 5th rated in the SEC coaching ranks.

While I don't necessarily agree with all of the ratings in the article, it does however seem that others don't see Mark Richt with the same skills as the coaches mentioned in the article.

Often it has been pointed out on this board and others that Richt has a tendency to take his foot off of the opponents throat when he should be going full blast. I don't consider what I am saying here as being ugly, just trying to put the facts together. Said before and will say again, Mark Richt is a good front man, as a game manager, don't think he rates that high throughout the coaching world and those that have some thoughts on different areas of college football.

Somehow I feel that he is giving himself three years to get the job done, say that looking at the other coaches contracts, and his. If nothing really good happens in the next three years, probably will force the "Groups" hand. Then again, maybe not.

A lot of comments that I have read over the past years goes something like this . . . . Many coaches have never won a National Championship. Facts are facts, can't argue that point. My contention to that however is . . . . many of the other college programs do not and have not had the talent that Georgia has had over the thirteen years going on fourteen under Mark Richt.

Will be interesting to see how we "game plan" football this season. Believe we have the coaches on staff, both sides of the ball to make some noise. After all, you can have the best players on campus, but they have to be taught. Arm waving needs to be dropped from Georgia Football 101.

Article on coaches is on the right hand side of the site.

Thinking out loud again.

Dantonio is the most underrated HC in college football, imo.

wlayton, could not agree more. He is the type of coach that will cause urban meyer problems.

urban meyer has "chosen" select universities that are surrounded by very good high school talent. Dantonio fits what I consider to be a "football coach and teacher" description.
