Richt might as well be a coyote.
He is essentially a head coach in name and salary only.
If Grantham had control of the defense, he has upped the ante with Pruitt.
Jeremy Pruitt will have absolute control of all things defensive, complete control.
Why?
Because Richt, if nothing else, is a survivor, who has bet it all on Pruitt's acumen as a hardass, polar opposite coach.
If defense is our problem, I would assume there is cause for optimism.
Richt will leave Pruitt alone, he is a survivor.

Like you, I think he is the man in the middle. Mike Bobo is running the offense (I believe that) and Pruitt will without a doubt run the defense.
Several strong headed Alabama boys that played together, and are best friends. Beginning to remind me a bit of the "Alabama Gang" that created a lot of excitement for NASCAR. They were good for NASCAR, hoping the same magic works in Athens.

There is and has been a deep concern in Athens and elsewhere about the decline not only in students lack of interest, but by those that contribute. Sure that you and others have read about the 300 or so seats that are available to those that want to return putting the cash in the football system.
Another reason that Slive was ready to make a deal with ESPN. Not only is UGA having noticeable money problems, meaning a down turn in response to save the program from serious after effects, other colleges are facing the same. That is except one . . . . Alabama. Saban had some words for those students that did not want to meet his expectations. Saban can do that, richt cannot. McGarity tried, but it was comical.
Pruitt or someone like Jeremy Pruitt has long been needed to make a move in Athens. richt smiling, damn straight. Have heard that there were a couple of warning shots in his direction. Money talks and BS walks. Honestly, I have heard about every excuse imaginable in the past fews years.
One of the things that Jeremy Pruitt said that bothered me. He was beside himself when saying how much he had wanted to work for richt. If I were face to face with Pruitt, I would ask one simple question . . . . WHY? If he comes to UGA with the same philosophy as richt, sorry, we have found ourselves another ringer. Yes I know that is standard coach speak, somehow though, could have done without it.
Couple of folks on this board including myself have mentioned the fact that richt will take a wide path around Pruitt and what he is going to try and do. Pruitt is richt's best chance to remain in Athens. richt knows that. So do some of us that have watched this whole football thingy play out in Athens for far too long.
Sorry, just still have recurring thoughts about things I have seen under richt, and now McGarity.
Will stop.

Now all Richt has to do is stay the hell out of the way.

DAWGtm wrote: My biggest problem with CMR is his ability to motivate the players. We come out flat to many times. and its not that he's a Christian its his personality because they are alot of Christian out there that are great motivators I have been in services that when the preacher had finished the sermon we were ready to take on hell with a water pistol. I love and admire what he stands for but without a ability to inspire his players they will never reach their full potential. I'm hoping CJP will be the catalyst that will make us a team that plays above their ability's instead of below. We will have to wait and see. Can say one thing at least I have a little hope now that TG is gone before that I was dreading the same old same old next season.
DAWGtm.....that sir is exactly how I feel....thanks for the post.
