Charlie Strong to Texas

Not to be mislead by the choice of words for this thread.

I firmly believe that Charlie Strong is on his way to Austin, Texas. That will turn out to be one great move for that university.

Texas A&M since joining the SEC has taken over a large part of UT's recruiting base. Texas needed to do something, something that could put them out front again.

Those of us that have watched Coach Strong know one thing for sure . . . . man knows defense, understands players, even keel. Great hire when it is officially announced.

Appears that ESPN will make sure ohio state will grab one of the four spots in next season's playoff. West division of the SEC will grab one spot. West will beat each others brains out, leaving one team that is much better than probably one of the teams that does enter the final four.

My calculation tells me that there are two (2) spots left.

There comes a time when changes have to be made, or without a doubt we stay on the same course. Nothing going on in Athens leads me to believe that we are anywhere close to making the final four. Maybe I am missing something, if so, someone has to point me in a different direction.

Too much talent on the west side of our conference to make me believe at this point we have a chance to get in the ring with the other three.

More and more I see young players moving away from the Athens City Limits. At this point it is not too hard to figure out. Football in Athens is not played the same way it is in other Southereastern Conference cities. Don't think I am being ugly, just looking at this up and down roller coaster that we have been on since . . . . the Last National Championship Year. That was a long time ago, truthfully as things are and appear to remain, we will be lucky to play in a BCS game in the near future, or maybe ever if something does not change.

When I bring up "change", what that means to me is this . . . .The folks involved at the "deepest point" in Georgia Football have to come to the realization that they are at this point letting many of us older folks down. We have been patient, layed out coin when asked, sometimes when not asked. Tried to do things in other areas that are not noticed or talked about. Can't speak for the younger generations, I am way past that.

We are going to enter 2014 Season with a promise that our team will get better. They were young in 2013, now they have some turf time under their belts, things will change. Can't paint a beautiful picture with one stroke of the brush, and that has been one of our problems. Many here and other places know that the "party line" is just that.

Not going to go on one of my tirades.

Look folks, I am one person. You, all of you that post here need to speak up. I don't tell lies, when I say that this board is read by more folks than you know, that is truthful. This site carries a lot of weight with a lot of folks that read here and publish later. Many good members here, knowledgable in the ways of Georgia Football, more than a handful need to step up.

Got off track, not unusual for Buc. Charlie Strong in less than 3 years will have the University of Texas in the final four year after year. Charlie Strong should have been the head coach at the Univeristy of Florida. Guess they were not ready. Times have changed. Just saying . . . .

I'd say 1 spot left, because barring some disaster, I'd say FSU is probably as close to a lock as osu and the SEC west team.

Unfortunately, there are still way too many voices speaking up that are OK with what's going on, and many voices thinking that simply replacing grantham will make us a top tier team. richt will never be fired, and by the time he leaves, the program will be years from even becoming a middle of the pack SEC team again.

Not the first time you have said this sadlerdawg, and you were right the first time. Goes back a ways.

FSU is for real, whether they win or not in the NC game. They have some very good football players on both sides of the ball. Amazing what a coaching "foundation" can accomplish.

I know, Buc, I hate to be repetitive, but these "coaches" have pretty much killed my passion for college football. At least I have time for my other hobbies now...you know, ones where I can actually see a desired return on the amount of time or money I put into them.

sadlerdawg, one thing that I know can work. That bunch in Athens has to hear voices. Last season McGarity came out and had a few words to say about students not going to the games.

Those students for the most part are no different than you and I. They too want a chance to stick their chests out and say, bring it on.

Just finished reading a couple of articles on the internet, written by folks that have their blogs. They are where some of us were a while back. I read and think, this person understands, then the next paragraph they are back in the same saddle again. Want to scream and say, you really don't understand. I am old enough to recognize the strings attached to youth. Been there, done that.

Said it probably a thousand times now . . . . Vanderbilt loss hurt me. Our coaches stunk.
