Also in another post wlayton mentioned that tickets to the gator bowl are somewhat at the give away stage now.

Taking a thought from your post sadlerdawg, where are those that talk the "next year" theme when it comes to sitting in JAX and watching the game. Think many that call themselves UGA fans are more into the "social side" of football.

Back to the VD thingy again. For most of Erk's time in Athens he held opponents to 17 or less points scored a game and that was over 17 years. That same time VD was nothing more than three yards and a cloud of dust. Every time I think about a VD statue in Athens, does not sit well. The AJC used to scare the hell out of VD. When Jesse Outlar or Ed Thilenius were heading to Athens, VD wanted to know, broke out his "show dog" smile for the media.

After Herschel Walker left and just before, VD was posturing himself to take over the Auburn job. Problem with that, he did not want Erk running the program in Athens.

Have never had any love for President Adams, but he did one thing that put a smile on my face . . . . put VD in his "proper place". I applaud that move. Have read over the years how the younger UGA supporters have been brain washed concerning VD. That is all that many got to see, especially around the NC year, can't really blame them.

If we get serious about VD, all one has to do is check his hiring record as Athletic Director. Not a pretty picture. His best hire it appears was mark richt, and that has made many folks happy campers.

Love these 8-4 seasons, and I must remember this . . . . we were injured. Still can't figure out what all of the "hand waving" was about on the sideline. Take that back, watching grantham on the sideline waving his hands, just a part of his teaching defensive schemes . . . . right? Needs that damn towel to cover his head up, then the defense could play at full speed.

Read where some want to watch Hutson Mason. Hutson Mason will do as well as the offensive line allows him to do. FACT.

~~~ THIS ~~~
Between the big money supporters, the merchandise and advertising revenue; which CLEARLY McGarity is understanding of, and the tea and crumpets social atmosphere that ALL have a stranglehold upon our beloved program, I expect little more than mediocrity! Let the bottom line become THE issue, change will arrive, but no sooner!
Brace yourselves, my friends, Wednesday could very well bring yet another disappointment in an otherwise completely forgettable season......And like so many other CMR seasons before this, we will, once again, fill the NFL coffers with talent, yet to be fully developed!....
Godspeed in your recovery Aaron, you deserved better!
NC_Dawg has been a tough one to swallow . . . . Mediocrity.
There is little doubt that Damon Evans was nothing more than a VD promotion that went wrong. VD got away with mediocrity for all of his years in Athens, and then fully expected the rewards that come for a job that he often said was well done.
So many talented players have passed through, seems now our past and present have caught up with the sins of the past and a promised "next year" future.
See no reason to extend any well dones in the direction of McGarity, at this point appears to this Dawg fan that he also is a puppet, "strings" attached. That is how the Group in Athens works and will continue to work.
Empty seats on Wednesday in JAX, might be an indication of things to come, soon. Disney contract will also have many "strings" attached, my opinion, worst thing the SEC could have done. Slive and Adams, two peas in a pod.
You sir, are correct! Mediocrity has been less than a stranger to our program for many a decade! And as we travel further and further from our last glimmer of greatest, while our SEC brethren fill their cases with conference titles and crystal balls, THAT pill tastes all the more foul!
Happy New Year, my friend!
GO DAWGS!
Said in another thread that I was embarrassed because I bit on the cut bait. Like a grouper sitting on a wreck waiting for those "up above" to "feed me". Second time around NC_Dawg, cannot retreat, not taking the bait.
Have had several emails from folks that want to know why I am saying some of the things they haven't heard from me in a long time. Not necessarily folks on this board.
My greatest fear at this point is my age and health, do not expect any improvement from those that run the football program in Athens. Really need to know that someone counting the coins cares as much as I do about the Red and Black.
What is going on in Athens under the current folks reminds me of bottom fishing on a head boat. Lots of ups and downs, boat rocking, causes some to bend over the rails and lose their taste for bottom fishing. Have lost my taste for the last time, get the house in order or continue to please those that can live with "mediocrity".
I still remember your first post back to me in my first thread after coming on board, and it was and is still appreciated.
Happy trails and a wonderful New Year to you NC_Dawg. :)
