Brothers, looking forward to this game. Several reasons for that.
I can appreciate everything that has been said about injuries and other reasons. All valid, but folks, there comes a time when both coaches and players have to look into that proverbial mirror and come away with answers.
Agree with your words above yankeedawg1 concerning health, flu etc. Here is where I begin to have problems. I look at all of the young men dressed out every Saturday and wonder why we can't make up some of the ground lost through injuries and things.
Quite frankly it was pointed out that Garner had his favorites and that was that. Favorites were playing with almost total disregard for skilled or semi skilled backups. I try not to say much about the last five yards in Atlanta against Alabama, but what happened to us there in my mind comes down to coaching. I look at the way Ray Drew, Ramik Wilson are playing this year and it makes my blood boil. Garner not only quit on himself, he quit on his players and those of us that expect coaches to do their jobs. Not like he and others on this staff are/were under paid. While they supposedly love the game of football, it has become much more than that in recent years. Follow the money.
I refuse to accept Auburn being better than we are because of talent. Most of us know that Auburn has no more or probably not as much talent as we do at this point. Might be that they are better coached than we are, that would be my first guess. Or, maybe we are not running the right formations on our defensive side of the ball, formations that suit our defensive players better.
Sorry fellows, do not any longer accept a lack of talent. Might not be as talented as Alabama . . . . but then what team is? If maybe we had been coached up last year, along the depth side of football, we had a solid chance at the Crystal. Will always believe coaching was a major problem in Atlanta.
Sorry about being so long. Goose know who much this game means to you and others on this board. I go back to when the game was played in Columbus, Georgia at Memorial Stadium, young fellow then, but have played and coached the game all of my life, when time permitted. Only advantage Auburn should have tomorrow is crowd noise and there will be a lot of that. Full stadium, most of the crowd will probably be in their seats after halftime.
Coaching has made a huge difference for the Auburn faithful. This game means much to me, along the lines of Florida. Man for man, they are no better than we are, quite frankly not as good.
Thanks for the good read yankeedawg1, on my way soon to the VA and taking Greg some boiled green peanuts. Greg played for Dooley and served in the Marine Corps, what a member of society he has been and still is.
Go Dawgs, coach'em up . . . .
