I said looked better not played well. big difference . I want him gone!!!

I'm with you but they shouldn't have just looked "better" they should have looked "all world" against UF's offense.

I agree 100% . Just saying it doesn't take much for TG to blow his own horn.

TG on the other hand had damn near an NFL defense last year and we were mediocre at best.

Yep... and that's where the "youth" excuse loses all credibility.

I'll point it out again: TG has been a position coach for some pretty good defenses, but his one previous
stint as the DC ended with his firing after 3 seasons of decline with his D rated near the bottom of the NFL
in almost all categories. No one gave him another chance to be a DC until we hired him.

Still though.... I would just hire a new HC and see what he wants to do with TG. I would venture a guess that
he would not be retained. In fact... I would bet on it.

My biggest regret was blaming some players, calling them selfish for playing Me ball instead of WE ball, for last years underachieving D.

Yep, you are so right....and that horn has been locked in its case since last year's UF game.

I will give CMB some credit this year. In the past, I have not been impressed with our game plans on offense. Have always thought it very vanilla. This year with the talent we have it would be hard for CMB not to have a good year. Still not a fan of running out of shotgun when back is standing still and throwing the ball on 3rd down short of 1st down marker. Feel we get very conservative with a lead. We dominated UF in 1st half and looked like crap in 2nd.

Our Defense is PATHETIC. Never liked 3 - 4. Defense is young, last year's D put 7 players in NFL and really wasn't that much better than this year. IMHO they can't tackle and get out of position in over pursuit. We blitzed against UF and it worked. Can't recall any other games we blitzed. Maybe because TG was afraid of putting pressure on DBs. Don't know.

All I know is that I don't want to her excuses. UGA has too much talent. Leave it at that.

Trying to lay back and read what others have to say.

TN Dawg, you definitely got my attention when you mentioned the 3/4 defense in your post.

Too many of these young men come to Athens having played in 4/3 defenses, and it is different, different meaning there are variations of the 3/4. Also, there are variations of the 4 man front. However, most of these young men understand the 4 man front much better.

Coming into a complicated system, apparently complicated because of Grantham's way of running "his" 3/4. Says to me, young man, might as well get ready to sit for a year or two, learning Grantham's playbook comes first. As has been said by those players that have left for the NFL . . . . Grantham's 3/4 is tougher than the pros, on a sliding scale.

Still believe Grantham is trying to play his way, not the team way. I believe he wants to win, don't get me wrong on that point, he however is pushing the envelope too far.

Nick Saban can play football this way, letting players learn and sit for a year or two. Todd Grantham has not lived up to his "coach speak" when he came on board. There is always talent in Athens, don't believe Todd Grantham would be the defensive coordinator had he not thought he would be surrounded by high school talent. He said as much. We have to remember this . . . . Todd Grantham has not shown "Saban" talent thus far. Few do, Grantham is among the "few".

Todd Grantham still carries that "look at me" when things go well. Totally different when things slip a bit, then we hear the "coach speak" about "youth" and any other excuse he has in his bag.

TN Dawg said this and I am and have been in agreement since being a member of this board.

All I know is that I don't want to hear excuses. UGA has too much talent. Leave it at that.
