Good Afternoon All,

First this is not an indictment or an endorsement just asking questions

Greg McGarity hired as AD on 8/13/2010

CMR is in his 13th year as HC

CMB – Named OC - in 2007

CTG – Named DC – January 2010

Many here have agreed that CMR has changed for the better since Mac has been on campus

One could make the case that these changes and improvements to CMR has also made CMB more than a capable OC in the SEC –fair statement?

My short memory recalls as recent as 2011 CMB was the poster boy for
problems surrounding our football program and caught flak for it

There was much agreement here and elsewhere that CMB had the 2012 season to prove his worth and not get fired- Again a fair statement?

We have invested seven years in CMB learning and perfecting his job

To his credit he also was a mentor and teacher to AM, AM reached out to other sources but CMB was a big part of his development

CTG on the other hand is completing his fourth year as DC which puts him three years behind in experience with CMB

This is not to say just give CTG a pass for three more years but as
With players no substitute for experience, it comes with growing pains

We all asked to see improvement week to week in our defense

As small as these improvements have been they were still present

Made the plays in JAX when called on and did so at other times during the season, again many failures and below our expectations

SB left all on the field – I would call them tears of passion for not wanting to accept a loss at the hands of UF- leader and a DGD

Many here have commented here about there is no quit in this group of
Dawgs, I find it difficult to believe this would be the case if the players did not believe in this coaching staff

More of a fact than an excuse the injuries have had a adverse effect on our season

Falcons also faced many injuries I don’t think they would be a 2-6 team if they had not had to deal with the loss of so many starters

In our case most of the injuries on the “O” side but it messed with the minds of all our players IMO

Just tossing all this out

Made a comment several weeks ago is CTG becoming our new CMB

It didn’t get much play, seems going back over the past few seasons
It looks like a possibility

Go Dawgs!!!!!

yd1, good stuff as we've come to expect from you. I'll try to give my 2 cents as briefly as I can:

Fair...I do believe CMR & CMB have both shown decent (CMR) to good (CMB) progress since Mac's arrival.

Fair...CMB's play-calling in 2012 did indeed show me he was learning, improving, & therefore deserved to return as our OC in 2013.

Injuries have cost us dearly this season & there is absolutely NO DOUBT about this for me. Heck, I've even seen numerous rival fan bases comment on how UGA's promising season was derailed by major injuries to key players. I agree that dealing with the mental aspects of injuries caused the entire team major problems in both the UT game & the MO game. Conversely, dealing with the mental aspects of wanting to choke out some blind refs caused our team to have a complete mental shutdown during the Vandy game.

I do feel you are onto something about our players not quitting. In hindsight, Auburn clearly quit on Chizik last season but I don't see our beleaguered defense quitting on CTG so maybe they do respect & believe in him? Alternatively, maybe they just play hard for themselves, other coaches (CMR?), teammates, university pride, etc.? I cannot be certain as to what has kept our players motivated but I'm proud of them no matter the reason(s).

I do not want for CTG to hang around & become the new CMB aka scapegoat for every loss our TEAM suffers over the coming years but to your point, we seem to be heading in that direction. Personally, I'd rather him get replaced immediately than to sit with baited breath for the next 2-3 years just hoping & praying that he will improve. IMHO, the slight defensive improvements I've seen have not been enough to convince me that CTG is a great DC & that youth & injuries (Tray Matthews) is the primary reason for our team's putrid defensive rankings.

Very interested in seeing others responses to this doozy of a topic!

Tired of the roller coaster.

Every time one of these coaches shows a bit of improvement, all of a sudden everything is fine....
and then next year the team will have another long line of excuses as to why the chances for an
SEC title or NC fell by the wayside.

I want a new man at the top, and he can decide whether or not to keep TG, and then I will hold him
responsible for the decision. This new man can decide what to do with TG and MB.. His call.

As I said... tired of the Richt Roller Coaster - Next year it will be because we have a new QB..next year we will be back on the O-line again, and another new QB.. next year it will be the young defense again (even though the loaded and experienced 2016 D wont have been that good either.

Personally though... comparing TG to MB is apples and oranges.

TG came in here with tons more experience than MB. TG was assistant head coach with Mich St in 98.. had all that time in the NFL..

He came in having been a DC in the NFL for 3 seasons with the Browns. They got worse the longer his tenure
went on, culminating with:

He was fired on January 11, 2008 after the 2007 season with the Brown's defense ranking 25th against the pass, 27th against the run, and 30th in total-yards-against among 32 teams

Color me not impressed.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Short answer for me.

Can totally agree with everything said in the 3 posts above.

Imo....I just think it is time for a NEW regime.....new blood....new strategies.....new philosophies etc etc

Could I live with CMR as the HC with DYNAMIC coaches at OC, DC and a ST's coach?.......yes.

There's been enough time.....change is needed.

Was proud of the win. Lot of good things happened. Not really ready to reconsider my stance on the coaches. I think CMB is a very good coordinator. Don't think he ever gets the credit he deserves. Seems very similar to AM.

Hard to reconsider anything else. Was nice to beat uf, but we still lost to vandy. Take an awful lot for me to get over that one.

GO DAWGS. Better be ready Saturday. Ask Michigan what can happen when preparation is poor.
