Answers about our Defense and Special Teams

sflanagan21, like the way you think.

One thing that sticks in my mind is Todd Grantham believes in somehow getting your hand(s) on the football. TG knows how much "turnovers" mean to a game. Georgia is not a team that you want to give the ball to without putting points on the board or field position to.

Georgia can score. Will score. That has to scare the hell out of those facing us. Also like your point on TG and KM. Who in this world of college football would not want both of these young men?

Say it another time . . . . we have two (2) outstanding tightends. What are the front seven (7) on the defense going to do now that we are talking about running backs and tightends? (Front seven for the bad guys) Wide receivers, yep, we have a couple or five that could play for anyone. Yes, did say five (5).

Anyone think that Quayvon Hicks is ready at fullback? I do. Maybe he has something to say about that defensive end for the other team in our second game. Don't believe that Hicks is afraid of anything. My opinion.

The football played in the SEC is a beautiful thing to watch. I said that. :)

Buc,

I just got chill bumps when you brought up Hicks!!! That kid is a BEAST and I'm sure he would more than love to match up with Clowney!!! CMR:Hicks we need you to shut down Clowney. Hicks:Yes sir Coach, anything else you need from me Sir!

I love it!!! I have never been as excited for a season as I am for this season! If your a Dawg fan and your not excited about the future of our program then you need your membrane examined. This maybe a bold statement but I said it last year to all my fellow Dawg fans?friends and I really believe it. I'm not just some delusional "homer", I've been a fan since the early 80's so I've seen some horrific seasons and I knew what to expect for may years...

Here is my bold statement: It's taken CMR longer than any of us have wanted and wished for BUT the tide has changed (pun intended) and UGA is the next big thing in college football. We are going to win our fair share of NC in the years to come, it's inevitable with whats going on at UGA right now. Our recruiting is where it needs to be and CMR is at the helm and he knows where this ship is heading...

sflanagan21, enjoyed reading your post.

Apologize for taking so long to get back. Guess that I have taken on the same reasoning that many on this board have for a long time. Football season is when we talk football. Not a slap, just the truth. Took me several years to understand that, but sooner or later we adapt to the board that we "chatter on". Have resigned myself to "listening" not "talking".

Watch some of the players that we want . . . . "still going to Tuscaloosa". Saban/Smart have done their jobs.

University of Georgia has positioned itself in a very good place. Remember well "Bear Bryant" coming to Athens and leaving with a loss . . . . before many on this board took their first breath. Who the heck cares about "knees" on the ground. Guess the "Bear" did. :)

Really glad to see UGA using tightends and fullbacks again. Do believe that Mike Bobo will use both positions this season.

Back to your first paragraph . . . . There are a lot of "very good" football players ready to step onto, and play between the "Hedges". This defensive team will change some of the "posts" that some are afraid to post now.

sflanagan21, I would be less than honest if I did not say that I am "jacked" about this season. Love the fact that we have Clemson, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, Auburn (at their place) and everyone else.

This defense will play. I said that. ;)

Just adding my two cents... how sweet it is not to be talking about CMB not being able to handle his job as OC

CTG molding a defense that will remind us of the ole junkyard dawgs except with speed not seen between the hedges from so many at the same time.

Good things are taking place in Athens and there is a whole bunch of young pups heading this way who want to wear the R & B = who will keep restoring the pride to the "G"

Soon and it is now very soon the Boys of the South will "Go Boom"

Rolling Thunder hits Lake Hartwell in just 33 short days...ole man SEC football meets the ACC Pumpkins- Russ will rule

Go Dawgs!

Yep... It's good to not be talking much about the coaches ability to handle the task at hand. I still feel
it was justified at the time when we did, but CMB has seemingly grown into the job. A serviceable O-line and
Todd Gurley will do that for a OC, lol

I'm with some others in this thread, and I think our D will actually be better despite our loses of personnel.

I think with no entrenched superstars, they will play better as a "team" on that side of the ball. Plus don't
get me wrong... I think there are some superstars on the D, but they are just emerging and still working
hard within the system to prove it. Reminds me a lot of the ole junkyard dawgs (with speed) as YD1 noted.

I'm ready to get this party started.

God Bless and Go Dawgs
