When I was in high school, we scrimmaged three days M, T, W. Thursdays were trying to gear up for Friday nights game, mentally, walk throughs. Best players went both ways for sure.
Guess I am getting too old. I think I see the game getting away from its roots. ESPN and many more media folks are sitting on the goose that laid the golden egg. So much media hype has caused many of the problems we see with our youth of today. That 15 minutes of glory.
Wright Bazemore, many on this site are not aware of or heard of this man. If not, might take a look at the "Father of High School Football" in the USA in my opinion. Some little known or discussed facts about Bazemore. Not all of his ties are to Valdosta.

ogredawg said . . . . Bazemore dressed everybody who practiced that week.
Like Saban's policies and coaching methods or not, results seem to work from the way he coaches football. Looking forward to the second meeting between Alabama and TAM.
Goes along with the statement you made wlayton. Hard to argue with statistics, and Bazemore had and has those. Numbers in the long run, not short term, seldom reflect anything other than success.

wlayton, sometimes we play for coaches that we know should have been further up the ladder.
Have to say this . . . . Erk should have been the Head Coach at Georgia. That is one statement that I know to be the TRUTH. Will never forgive VD and those that followed for what this simple, but great coach gave to my University and all of us that walked the walk with him. Every year the team that I pull for other than UGA, Georgia Southern. There is a reason for that.
