Grantham is staying !

As I said before this is an opportunity for all the coaches to step up and teach.

Defense- no experienced studs returning=time to teach (did I mention tackling and covering?)

Offense- Super star lineup returning = now learn how to build depth across all positions so that we are not one injury away from failing and year to year becomes reloading and not rebuilding.

Special Teams- Field Goals/PAT need improvement

Discipline- Reduce the penalties/ especially personal fouls.

Grantham has the type of players he wanted for his schemes- now it is time to see if he belongs in the same breath as Kirby Smart etc.

I really want to see a BCS championship but if I can't have that, I want to see a team that comes out and plays 4 quarters of good football. If we get beat, it is because we got outplayed that day, NOT OUT COACHED, NOT OUT CONDITIONED, NOT OUT MOTIVATED, NOT OUT DISCIPLINED, NOT INTIMATED!

We should be fine here. 4 yr starter with a backup that's been in the program a long time at QB. RB depth... we have guys leaving because there is no room for them. We always seem to have a stable of WR's... two really good TE's. We should be set.

Then on D we signed a lot of good kids to refill the pipeline on that side where it was needed most.

One thing we do know, the NFL has not forgotten Todd Grantham's name. That also encourages me for this reason . . . . Young pups, many of them really want to play at the next level. What better recruiting person than Grantham that is respected by those at the next level.

Grantham's name is not going to suddenly disappear, he is a marked man, there will be calls probably every year from a NFL franchise. NFL defensive coordinators jobs are just about as stable as head coaching spots. All comes down to where he "wants" to be. I do know that the college recruiting game is back breaking work.

Grantham's one defensive coordinator job was in Cleveland, did not last long. When you look at that franchise over the past years, appears to me Cleveland was a classic case of ownership bumbling.

I am glad Grantham is here, if he fails to produce, have the right to change my mind. Not looking for failure, looking for the same thing that 36869 posted above in #5, on both sides of the ball. This will be a very interesting 2013 Season and the preparation has started with the Mat Drills. Players love this time period . . . .

Truly the fact that CTG was true to his word when sitting across from the recruits that he was all in.

This was a building process for his defense knowing his word is bond. Another Franklin moment.

I went and listen said no thank you and now back to the business at hand I am a Georgia Bulldog.

Buc, you and I have strong feelings about CTG and him being a teacher and student of the game.

He wants to be a head coach,I think new know the best path to that opportunity is to do an outstanding job as a DC.

I don't see CTG back in the NFL he loves the bonding with the college player- student to teacher.

Time to clear the drama and get on to spring ball and taking care of our business.

yankeedawg1, I think too often all or some of us get our hopes up on the new recruits and forget some of the young pups that have been on campus for one, two or three years. Always looking for that little extra that puts us over the top, nothing wrong with that.

Said in another thread that I feel now as if we have had a flushing of parties that were not meant to coach together. Players pick up on that real quick, they have seen that in organized youth football and in high school.

When I look at statements made and where coaches move for one reason or another, I am like the players on campus, I have seen it before also, my age at this point has nothing to do with my history pertaining to football. Our defensive coaches now are at the point where they should be able to move forward, all in the same direction. Another thing that I think is a reason to expect more out of our defense is the coaches on that side of the ball have spent a year or more also learning Grantham's way of playing defense. Our coaches, not unlike our players had to go through a training period. So, this year, what this defense does or does not do belongs to Todd Grantham. No room for excuses as one or two members on this board have said more than one time.

Going to be a pad knocking Spring in Athens . . . .

I am glad CTG is staying now it's time to figure out how to stop the RUN!!
