Maybe a bit less ME and a lot more TEAM?

Stopping the run is based on knowing your, and your teammates gap responsibilities and playing disciplined football where you maintain your responsibilities.

Sometimes when you have a team full of ready for the NFL talent there is a lot of individual greatness that might not always remember the team concepts of playing on that side
of the ball. Wouldn't it be interesting if the young pups stepped in and because of smaller egos, they played better
team/disciplined ball and our run D became more consistent
as a result....

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Wartdawg, have had some of the same thoughts.

I try not to call players out, sometimes names or positions have to be referred to.

Kwame had to pick up the pace when Jenkins came on board. Took competition staring him in the face to get motivated? Other side of that coin . . . . Jenkins seemed to cool his jets in 2012, it was expected by those of us on the outside looking in that the 2012 defenders returned to campus to play inspired defense, did not see that from Jenkins. Missing time at the end of the year because of grades and advice that he would be a first round NFL pick.

Totally disappointed in Washington's efforts or lack of in 2012. Did have time to call us, the fans out for expressing our views.

While Ogletree messed up again, when he did return, no one can doubt that he played at 100%, especially after he had a couple of games under his belt. Jarvis only knows one way to play football, some of the others should have or could have played with the same bad will intentions in mind.

WD, I fully expect this incoming defensive group to top what the 2012 players did. Of course most of the young pups that will try and hold the fort down will be second and third year players. There are many top notch SEC football players in Athens. Todd Grantham and Mark Richt have already said that in public . . . . show time.

Buc wrote: “As I said Wednesday, Georgia is a great place, my family loves it here, and I do as well,” Grantham said. “This is where our heart is and today I have withdrawn from consideration for the position with the Saints. I’m excited to start preparations for another season and along with the rest of our defensive staff look forward to coaching some really good returning players as well as developing some very talented newcomers.”
Earlier Friday before Grantham’s statement was released, safety Tray Matthews, the highest rated recruit by Rivals.com in the class Georgia signed on Wednesday, was asked how he would react if Grantham left for the NFL.

“That’s his choice,” said Matthews, an early enrollee. “Really, I just love Georgia for Georgia. I love all the coaches. If he chooses to go to the Saints, that’s all right with me as long as he’s happy.”

Folks, believe we have found ourselves a football player . . . . what say you? Some on this board say they don't post a lot, good time to step in and be heard.

Edit: wlayton, guess all is ok. :)

Yes Buc, you and I grew up when a handshake meant something and "your word was your bond".

Glad to see CTG fits the bill.

growl, have heard and read that some wanted Grantham to speak up earlier. I can't quarrel with that, but he came back and my bet is that the players, coaches and Athletic Director are pleased.

This defensive squad belongs to Todd Grantham, not Willie or Garner. Looking for some changes not only on the football field with players, with the "entire" defensive coaching staff. This could be really good. We are beginning to see depth building, and that has been missing too long in Athens.

Who knows, maybe Grantham will become valuable this time around, much the same way as AM did . . . . :)

Getting a bit late on Valentine's Day, came across this interview, actually liked it a lot. Makes a lot of sense to me, for whatever that is worth. Still sticking to earlier statements that I believe this defense will be better than the 2012 edition.
