TN Dawg, my way of thinking is that it is time for Ray Drew to step up. All of us remember the battle for him to attend Georgia. Been on campus long enough, knows what Grantham wants, playing in the same schemes for a couple of years.

Abry Jones coming off of ankle surgery, not going full contact for a while, crossed fingers.

Thanks for reminding me about RD. Shows how much of a consideration he has been in my mind! Would have to agree that in the "next man up" scenario he would need to step up.

Would be a great to see RD shine on a big stage and propel him into next year.

Go Dawgs!

Thoughts of Ray Drew reminded me of Mark Richt recruiting Ray and going fishing with him in South Georgia. Of course there were several coaches and alumni that wanted Ray Drew badly.

Folks, the more that I look over the group of young men that will play between the Hedges in 2013, the more I am convincing myself that we are going to be a very good defensive football team.

Lots and lots of returning talent, and it appears that we are (re-loading) with some special young players heading our way between now and February. Yes I know that experience means so much in any phase of life. All things are possible.

Hear me if you will . . . . It is one thing to teach young men a certain way to play football. One of the areas that is too often looked past are the folks that coach these future stars.

This coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball have now had time to meld. Olivadotti, Lakatos, coach to be named to replace Garner and under the leadership of Grantham. All good football x's and o's men, coaches like players have to come together as a unit and that is not always a quick process.

Below is a link that I looked closely at, reinforces my thoughts about 2013. My hope is that the incoming freshmen have their heads screwed on and . . . . bring it. Our defense is going to be very quick and fast. Two different things in my way of thinking.

Thoughts? Wishing all a very successful 2013.

Go Dawgs, wife and I will watch you tomorrow in Orlando.

Buc, great article. Looking at that list of names returning, and even the BACKUPS(!), we will have PLENTY of "D" next year. No excuses!

thriller, watched the Clemson/LSU game last night. Wow, that game was certainly no place for boys. Saw as many or more "big time hits" in the game as I have seen all year.

So, we open with Clemson and follow that with South Carolina. Down the road a bit, LSU and Florida with some interesting games in between. Don't think that we can be accused of not facing talented teams in 2013. Have to have some depth, that is the factor that I see causing us some problems. All teams lose players, so strap'em up and have a go.

Watched Tech and Southern Cal. Kiffin does not look real happy at this point in his coaching career. Tech throwing the ball (?) appears that Paul Johnson has gotten the message that he had better open the game up from an offensive standpoint.

Looking for a hard hitting game in Orlando today. Bo Pelini only knows one way to play football and that is hard nosed. Has that LSU mindset when it comes to playing defense. This will not be another Wisconsin type game for Nebraska in Orlando today.

Happy New Year Dawgs!! :)
