IMHO, going to hurt in recruiting more than the actual defense line play.
Garner = excellent recruiter-GOOD coach
We need = a good recruiter- EXCELLENT coach.

Don't think it will have that much of an impact. Richt, Bobo, and Grantham are the main recruiters anyway. I say let CTG coach the D line and hire a SPECIAL TEAMS COACH. I see this as a positive not a negative.
Anyway again good luck at Aubuurn he will need it.

Interesting tid-bit from the Auburn side. Right now anything will please the folks on the Plains, still facing NCAA investigation. Garner will make some waves right away with his departing Athens, to be expected. Link below more or less proves that out.
Not sure who or what our next defensive hire will be. Would bet that it is already in the works.
Not throwing stones, Garner meant a lot to UGA, for a lot of years. Have to go along with what bulldawg36869 posted.
Think below is the sort of thing that AllDawgs5 was getting at.
Not a time to get ourselves into a tissy, lot of serious players heading to Athens, and if it comes right down to who the best recruiter at Georgia is . . . . my vote is Mark Richt.
