Who's going to Orlando?

Seems to be some lock jaw on this board. Many I am sure have watched the interview below. Watched it again, and like what Mark Richt had to say. After he is finished with the "goop" on Nebraska and Georgia in the bowl game, took some time to "listen" to what Richt had to say. Still have "some" in the media trying to wear "big boy pants" asking questions, looking for a "surprise" for you and me.

Mark Richt, proud of what you had to say in this clip. You did not dodge, said this is what happened and this is where my coaches and I am at.

Some that listen to 680 are still there listening to a very knowledgable(?) football man that coached high school football. As far as Buc is concerned, he can take his apology and stick it where the Sun does not shine. He is a "wimp" looking to remain in a place to gather money. Seem to be a lot of those "types" trying to discuss Georgia Football these days.

Munson, you and I know that we hunted birds together in Social Circle with Milo Hamilton and the owner of the preserve, Merrit Duncan, never was there a better heart than LM . . . . then we get 680. Time of the year for forgiving, sorry, 680 "wimps" are just that.

Gillette, where the heck are you?

Buc, I like that clip - had not seen it before, and probably wouldn't have watched it had you not posted it. Here's my takeaway:

Wow! The Head Coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs MAY - just MAY - know a LITTLE SOMETHING about the game we call FOOTBALL! Instead of listening to what you rightly call "goop" on Nebraska, I focused on his explanation of not clocking the ball. Let's go back in time, after having read his explanation of that final play against Ala-damn-bama:

At this point, we still have about 15 seconds on the clock, and we've gotten inside their 10 yard line, not by calling timeouts and "planning" the next play, but by keeping them on their heels and not letting them make substitutions and making the defense play without a so-called PLAN. We have, at least according to what those knowledgeable of the game would say, three chances at the end zone if we continue the strategy that we used to get us this far. Or we can have TWO chances if we burn the precious seconds to clock the ball and allow 'Bama to regroup and substitute.

PRIOR to having 20/20 hindsight to guide us, anyone on earth would scream at AM to just run the next play that we've REHEARSED ALL YEAR. The play has ALREADY BEEN CALLED. NO NEED TO HUDDLE. In fact, we know the next 4 plays, even though there will only be 3! The next play is going to be a FADE ROUTE. If they cover the deep receiver, the throw will have to be a low trajectory pass over that back shoulder. If they let the receiver go, it will float a little more. That's all there is. That's what we will call if we "clock it", and it's what we will run if we DON'T.

Richt's explanation of that play was more "football talk" than I've read in a LONG TIME. It had CONTENT! It made SENSE. And in Saban's post game interview, you can TELL he was worried SICK, because he knew we were doing EVERYTHING PERFECTLY, until Conley caught that ball.

Sometimes things just don't go perfectly. Conley DROPS that pass, and we get AT LEAST one more shot. Catch it and fall down . . . game over. Instinct prevails. Capital One, here we come.

Thanks for the post, Buc. I'm not happier about things, but at least I now have CLOSURE, and I don't hold anything against anyone for losing the game. Not Conley, not Murray, not Richt . . . I can now just tip my cap to Ala-damn-bama, say "at least we played in that game", 'Bama made a play, and I hope they beat all you-know-what out of the Irish.

Now the Dawgs just have to demonstrate that SEC superiority is not just a bunch of talk. Nebraska is a LOT better than that last game they played, and you know it. We will not score 50 on them. They will score more than 17 on us. I stand by UGA 37 - Huskers 24 . . . unless we "show up" the way we did against the 'Cocks. If that happens, then Huskers 44 - UGA 10, followed by a dismal 8-4 season and a trip to the Music City Bowl.

thriller, you said it much better than I did. Appears that both of us felt the same way after watching the video.

Just another "change" in the way Mark Richt is running our football team these days. Have never seen him in a presser just get right into football talk, stay on the subject, same as he would if he were talking to his coaches. Went to the heart of the matter and I don't believe any more could be asked of Richt.

On the Nebraska game, I am a bit worried, but I tend to be that way. I am the type of person that does not take anything for granted. We have all heard the phrase two things that you cannot get away from. Death and taxes. Actually there is only one of the two that is for certain. Can't really escape death, if it is meant to be. Can choose not to pay taxes, but makes for a lot of confined days, with peanut butter sandwiches and kool-aid on the menu often.

Our last drive could have "blown up" from the first play in the hurry up right down to as sadly happened, the last play. Several opportunities in that drive for us to fail.

One last thing . . . . really liked the way Richt protected Conley. Conley was a sick puppy after the game was over. Richt did what he does well, standing side by side with Conley, "one of his boys". The way Mark Richt handled that will pay dividends for our football team and for us as fans. Conley will turn out to be a "monster". Mark those words.
