pokes!!

Let me answer several things...

1. It is my alma mater. I love Oklahoma State. Always have, always will. But I love UGA too. Y'all may not be real happy with me leading up to Sept 1, but y'all will love from Sept 2 on, I promise (at least until August of 2009, anyway).

2. If UGA holds OSU's offense to 12 points then the Dawgs very well could make the BCS championship. As for putting up 48 on the Pokes, could happen. Our D just plain sucked last year. We hope it's better, but we'll see.

3. I'm RxCowboy on Orangepower.com and several other Oklahoma State and UGA fan chat sites (although Orangepower.com and this one are my faves, and I don't frequent the others much). However, if you think *I* was saying that FatPhil and the Tenn Losunteers were better than the Mighty Bulldogs, man, you weren't reading very closely. In fact, over the past couple of months I've spent a WHOLE BUNCH of time an energy correcting Cowboys fans who have no idea what it means to be playing Between the Hedges, or football in the Southeast in general (e.g. \"We're going to spank Georgia, but Troy is a trap game\" Idjits! If you're worried about Troy you have no business playing Between the Hedges in the first place, much less thinking you can win there). In fact, I've been so vociferous for the Dawgs people have asked me what color I was going to wear to the game (for the record, orange shirt, red hat).

4. I humbly apologize if my comments on Boise State offended anyone. That was about the fourth time I had countered that argument THAT DAY, and was a little testy over it. Think about it now, it is a little absurd to base your prediction on what is going to happen this year on what happened two years ago, with two different teams. Most of the Dawg's offense has turned over since then, and I don't think there is a single defensive player left from 2005. There sure isn't anyone on Oklahoma State's squad who played in that game. It would be just as absurd for Oklahoma State fans to predict based on what happened the last time we opened on the road against highly ranked teams, beating both Washington (#1 in some polls) and Arizona State - or what happened last time we played an SEC team, beating Bama. Bama ain't lining up on Sept. 1.

5. I think the Dawgs will win. I've given reasons why I think so on here before, so I won't rehash them. But I think it will be a whole lot closer than many of you think it will, and the Pokes are certainly capable of the upset if the Dawg's O gets off to a slow start.

6. I don't hesitate to call out Oklahoma State fans when I think they're wrong.

7. My season tickets are in section 136, row 19, seats 19, 20 if anyone wants to stop by. The first game I'll be pretty easy to spot.

P.S. If anyone knows how to change the orange Viagra to red in my avatar, that would be cool.

I love UGA, too, and I have been watching them play since I was 8 years old, and we had a QB named Goff, and we ran an old, outdated offense that is now only used in HS football called the Veer Option.
Let's now be realists, folks. We have an almost entirely new offensive line. There are gonna be freshmen blocking on Stafford's blind side. We have a new LB corps, we have 2 new D-ends, and we lost our best cover-man when he became ineligible. Another 9-4 season is a distinct possibility. Now on the plus side. We have a great backfield, great WRs, and a great coaching staff. I dont think we are gonna hang 50 on anyone this year until we know what our O-Line may or may not be able to do. These guys are untested, and in the SEC, that often spells disaster......even Stafford had his bad moments last year until he got the hang of things, and we have no idea how this young o-line is gonna be. Some of my fellow dawgs.....and I won't mention any names.....predicted too much last year, and we fell flat for a few games. Let's all be cautiously optimistic and adopt the \"wait and see\" attitude. I dont think we can afford to be running a whole lotta smack on anyone right now until we can see what we are capable of. I think the Ok. State game will be a lot closer that the 48-12 score that a lot of you guys are predicting. I think they will score more than 12 points, and I think we will score less than 48, due to the inexperience of our 0-line. I am thinking more in terms of 28-21, or 28-24, or 31-28 with our kicking being the difference. I think there are gonna be a LOT of close games this year, much like 02 was. Sure, we arent predicted to win anything, but I think we are gonna surprise some people....right after we see if we are able to block like we are supposed to do.

Let me put on my Bulldog hat for a moment...

Lumpkin averaged 4.9 yards per carry last year. Sorting by YPC that puts him at 75th in the country. Ware averaged 4.0 and Brown averaged 4.1. Who knows if Brown is going to return to form after the injury, and if he does 4.1 is pedestrian. The backs are good, but they didn't exactly run over anyone last year. They could take a whole lot of pressure off of Stafford, but they really, seriously need to step it up.
