Hopefully the storm clouds will be dark by the time Vandy comes to town. Those guys will be pumped and ready to give Franklin his signature win. The schedule sets up nicely for UGA to make improvements throughout the year with out having some beast tear us apart at the seams where our deficiencies are noticeable.

I do apologize for the mid game call for Murray to be benched during the Mizzou game but I still believe he is struggling more than he should be as a Junior signal caller.

southernlover, we both know that Vandy coming to Athens is going to be a game for men only. I sincerely hope that we keep their quarterback from roaming wide. Some of the games that I have watched with Jordan Rodgers, seems getting outside is his ticket to a big game, running and passing.

Schedule is as you say playing out nicely at this point. Some of the bumps and bruises get a chance to heal. Don't think that we will see a repeat of the Buffalo game from our team, also like the idea of some of these freshmen getting more time on the field, and if as expected, that should be the case. Noticed that the game is sold out.

You by the way were not the only person that got "really" upset with AM in the Missouri game. All of us just want a "little bit more" and at this point, maybe AM realizes just how much talent he has surrounding him, leading to our expectations of "more". :)

Had to copy and paste the following in the Noticeable Changes thread.

Appears that Mark Richt has learned a lesson about "messing" with kickers. There is no doubt that someone on his staff of coaches "messed" with Blair Walsh. Might not have been Mark Richt, but there were many, many folks close to the program that mentioned leaving Blair alone while he was on campus. So this is what Mark Richt has to say now . . . . and it makes me happy.

#########################################

Kicker's mechanics not up for outside influence.

Georgia kicker Marshall Morgan went 2/2 on his field goals on Saturday against
Missouri, with his longest kick being 52 yards.

Yet, Morgan also missed an extra point.

Richt said on Wednesday that his freshman kicker doesn't need a kicking coach.

“Here is the thing about kicking coaches — they're a little bit like golf
coaches. I know some guys growing up have a golf coach,” Richt said. “The guy
has been teaching him to swing that club his entire life, and that’s the guy
that he leans on. I think it’s the same thing as with kicking with coaches that
are used to teaching you, and you come to Georgia or anywhere else and some guy
tries to change your fundamentals it might blow them up”.

Richt likes to "leave [his kickers] alone."

“Sometimes I think there is a little bit of a blessing that we're not trying to
mess them up,” Richt said. “I try to leave them alone because they know a lot
more about it than I do. I might say something here and there to boost his
confidence”.

#########################

Think that Mark Richt has learned a thing or two, that is a good thing. Never met a person that knew everything.

stevedawg - I figured I could post this under "Noticeable Changes", to avoid starting a new thread, and the title of this thread is appropriate after all.

I just wanted to say that the addition of the "Statistically Speaking" blog has been noticed, at least by me, and is WELCOME! Thanks! It is a VERY cool way to break down the most recent game and see if our "impressions" are borne out by the numbers.

Kudos!

Throw this out for what it is worth,

Have this feeling that Derrick Henry will commit to Tennessee today. My reason for that is Tennessee is willing to play the young man at running back. Hard for a young fellow that has had the lime light on him for a long time stepping back and not being number one. Tennessee needs a 5***** player at one of the “glory positions” to help move their program forward.

If Henry chooses Alabama, ain’t gonna start when he steps on campus. Do not care how impressive his stats are from playing high school football, it is not the Saban way. From what I can gather, Alabama is thinking along the lines of Henry playing another position. Alabama has proven college running backs and others graduating high school this year that create problems for Derrick walking on campus and taking over. While Henry is a very good player, when he joins the SEC, it ain’t Yulee, Florida. Have said before, check the film out when Yulee played Buford last season.

While there was chatter about Henry being a UGA commit for a long period and then pulling back, appears to me that with the present group in Athens, Henry was faced with the same problem that he would/will face in Tuscaloosa if he moves in that direction.

Gurley hit Athens without all of the media crap that has surrounded Henry since his freshman year in high school. Must say this, that was media created, hard for a young man not to get caught up in the hype. So I have to say this . . . . Mark Richt stepped out while Gurley and Marshall were still in high school and made a very definitive statement. UGA needs and wants running backs and at that point Henry was in lock step with the Red and Black. In my mind that was another NOTICEABLE CHANGE in Richt’s attitude toward UGA football. Mark Richt had been surrounded by a circus of young folks that truly were clowns at the running back position. That however was Richt’s choice at the time. Still believe that the mention of a “hot seat” got not only Richt’s attention, it got the higher ups attention also. They don’t like national cameras showing empty seats nation wide. Not good for the bottom line. Notice I had not mentioned IC at this point. Try very hard not to do that. Henry was aware of IC and along comes Gurley/Marshall.

In my opinion when Richt went public with the statement about running back needs at UGA, that was the beginning of a new Mark Richt and the way he will run the show as long as he is head coach. If I can criticize Richt, also have to have the you know whats to make note of his positive changes.

Just a couple of thoughts prior to tonights game.

Go Dawgs . . . :)

Along with Noticeable Changes comes, some things never change.

Watching Auburn and UL-Monroe. If AM and our receiving corps fails to beat Willie and his boys through the air, something has gone haywire.

Mark Richt, took a while, you however figured out the need to bring in defensive folks, or possibly you were "shoved" in that direction. Which ever, makes no difference, the old game plan is in the garbage, like the new one much better. You did not need that yoke around your neck.

Said before, hate to see folks unemployed. Did not take Oklahoma long to figure out WM and his "supposed" teaching methods lead to nowhere. AM should have 500 yards through the air against Willie's defensive backfield.

If we stay healthy, continue to improve, have to say that the Auburn I am watching today does not impress me. Marlon Brown, this is your cup of tea.
