Richt, Ole Miss coach respond to Spurrier’s schedule shot

HOOVER, Ala. – In a jab at Georgia’s schedule earlier this week, South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier offended Mississippi’s football program. Said Spurrier: “If I made the schedule, Georgia would be playing LSU, and we’d be playing Ole Miss.”

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze fired back on Thursday as SEC Media Days concluded: “2013, I think they’re on our schedule. We will circle that date and look forward to maybe changing his perspective on Ole Miss football.”

Georgia coach Mark Richt also was asked about Spurrier’s comment that he’d prefer to play UGA’s cross-division schedule rather than South Carolina’s.

“I’m sure there will be a year he’ll be thankful for the schedule he has,” Richt said.

Spurrier is really enjoying keeping his name out there for all to see. Apparently he is succeeding, folks like me continue to carry his crap in the honey buckets he provides.

Admiration for Hugh Freeze, head coach at Ole Miss, reminds me of our defensive coordinator. We know that Todd Grantham has a set, and now we know that the newest head coach in the SEC also has a set. Good on you for laying it out there Hugh Freeze. With fire in your belly like this, Ole Miss players and the Ole Miss faithful will respect you for your stance. Some have it, some don't.

I don't ever cheer for anyone but my Dawgs, but I do sometimes cheer AGAINST certain teams. I might have to get some Rebel gear if they could eek one out against Spurrious. And why not? Abuurn did it last year.

Truly believe that SS being Mr. Big in college, thought he was going to be all that in the NFL. Did not have the talent. Lots of badges worn by ex-quarterbacks out of Florida, does not carry over to the NFL. Spurrier has had to live with that for a very long time. Not good enough as a player or coach. Gets the boot twice. Easy to see why BVG and SS could not use the same camp site.

SS is really using this time preparing for UGA and Florida. He will have his team at a fever pitch, will take more than a top rated defense to win this game. . . .if you get my drift. Has to win both of those games or there will not be a meeting in ATL against the West. This is where coaching has to be at the pinnacle.

Cry baby that Spurrious is, he has a point with us playing Ole Miss and him playing LSU. They already have one SEC loss, as far as I'm concerned. I say we have a half game lead in the east just because of that. Don't blow it, Coach Richt. This is YOUR season. So much returning talent. So much experience. So much SWAGGER ("we don't believe in having a kicking coach"). And, as long as the addicts can put the bongs down long enough to not get suspended for the 'Cocks game, we'll have the entire team in Columbia for the first time in years.

This year, for the first time in a LONG time there truly are No EXCUSES. We have the players. We have the coaches (including the greatest DC and OC <cough, cough> and ST coach <cough, gag>). Championships are made of this stuff.
