That's true, but most people bring up "finding the true NC"
"the real honest to goodness best team" over and over again. With the conference champions idea the best team in the land last year wouldn't have been in the playoff even though they would be taking 6-8 teams or whatever. The best team in the land would have watched the championship tourney.

Plus for right now the conference champs idea is a moot point, as it's not what they agreed to do for the next several
years.

Kidding around, I get what you are saying. You put the top 4 or top 8 together and the winner 8 out of 10 times is usually the better team on THAT day anyway, so imo that are no absolutes.

Four teams is a great start and miles better than what we had.
