Division 1 Playoffs

I know that for the longest time College Football Fans have asked for a playoff system,but, is it in effect the end all in selecting a Champion. I know that I had been thinking that the playoff would be an eight team tournament, instead of four ,to compete in the top four Bowls etc. Sugar,Rose,Orange and Fiesta. Now I see that the Chick-Fila Bowl is trying to find a way to compete for one of those spots. Would be a good thing for our part of the country! What do you folks think?

Man, growl, I'm all for it! I also want an 8 team format, or 12 (the way the NFL does it) at a max. But for now, I'll GLADLY take 4. I'm one of those people who doesn't want one early season loss to undo a teams chances, and I'm not just talking about us. Abuurn got hosed in 2004, and while I'm always happy to watch Abuurn fans cry, I didn't care for the way that whole system worked. I want to genuinely feel like we know who had the best team in any given season, even when it's not my team.

Besides, playoffs and football make the holiday season even MORE magical! Bring 'em on!

At least a better chance of getting it right. Imo, the best team in the country will probably be in the top 4 ranked teams 90% of the time......that's a good enough number for me (for anything in life for that matter)

I am on the same page as you guys. If its all about the Student Athletes and not the money as the NCAA says it is, they should have no issues with a 12 team playoff. Let alone a 4 team playoff. The NCAA is as dirty as congress!

I just think it's going to be funny hearing #5 whine about how they should have been
taken over #4.

I use those numbers, but it's not based on a pure ranking. There will be a committee choosing the 4 teams based on a host of different criteria, and there will still be controversy over who gets in and who doesn't.

In all honesty... I'm totally indifferent to it. I didn't hate the old way of the BCS as
much as others, and while this might be a slight improvement.. it's not the end all be all
solution. Not sure there is one. Some want to have a playoff of only conference champions
but we all know that often the two best teams in the nation come from the same one, so
that wouldn't really work either.

WD.....at least using the conference champions idea, it would be factual and clear cut........could stop the whinning.
