I sure hope they don't miss a beat and come out stronger than ever before, even with out the starters. But you know what, the way things are going, what we saw last year will be nothing but a memory and we will see the same old bend and break defense from the past. I am sorry for being negitive, but I just don't get it, 2008 all the problems, now probable top 5 and here we go again. I just wish they leave us out of the tope 25, then maybe these players would not get the big head, and work to earn the respect of the nation.

YD-1 Visited your beloved Athens, the Classic City, for my 55 year class reunion from the veterinary college this past Saturday. We met at the Classic Center instead of the Cont. Ed. Center on campus. Now I was a season ticket holder for 48 years giving up my tickets 4 or 5 years ago because of parking changes & my wife's not being able to climb the stadium stairs after knee surgery. What has happened to downtown Athens? One gin joint after another. No clothing stores or shops in the town area. My old room mate & I went out for lunch. The J.C.Pennys building is now a Mellow Mushroom with a bar as big as any in Hotlanta. The town is set up for "Party University". What a shame. They use to have some decent rest. in town, no more. No wonder they have problems with the kids. Only had beer & wine in Athens, had to go to Fulton county or Anderson S.C. for booze. And for you "old timers" I worked at Harry's Drive In at five points for many years while in school. Harry Stephens would be shocked to see Athens now. Oh well, time marches on.
As always GO DAWGS, in we have anthing to go with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DocDawg, just in the nine years that I have called Athens my home the downtown area has come to look more like the strip in Knoxville.

You can walk out of any bar and fall into the next one without taking too many steps.

The first three years we were here my wife and I tried to go and eat in town and then walk the campus.

Impossible to find a parking place when school was in session. The city fathers waited to long to address the problem and many shops and eateries closed.

The all have move ouside the loop. As you have said time and progess marches on.

Checkout onlineathens.com and then search for the new intown walmart center planned for the area east of the classic center. Mixed use for shops and apartmnets.

We again are settings records for incoming freshman.

Come back and I will show you what good things have happened outside the downtown area.

Go Dawgs!

Thought this might be the right place to post the following link. Really funny actually. SS keeps doing the things that he has done forever. Loves to mess with folks. At some point he is going to feel the wrath of Coach Grantham. Appears to be a Hatfield/McCoy type situation evolving here. Still waiting for the outcome of the South Carolina "low hotel rent" for the players NCAA investigation. A win in Columbia would be a good starting point. Think we have the players to do that. :)
