Your PROUDEST seasons . . .

Your PROUDEST seasons . . . was created by thriller
In the “How Many” thread, I was responding to some good posts when a thought occurred to me, and I asked this question there. The thread rightly continued in its original direction without taking my detour. So – I’m creating a new thread (sorry about that – don’t like creating threads) to ask the same interesting question of everyone here. And that is:

We are all proud of our teams from 1896, 1946 and 1980. All undefeated teams. And our ONLY undefeated and untied teams in school history. On average, therefore, we go undefeated/untied every 42 years. Hopefully we can lower that number, but if so, we have to get busy. We’re already at 32 years and counting since the last one. And that’s what I’m interested in.

Starting in 1983 and going through to the present, which years are you the MOST proud of? I’m leaving out 1980, 81 and 82, since we are all obviously proud of those years (let me know if you aren’t).

Here are mine, in order. <ahem>:

2002, 2007, 2005, 2003, 2011, 2004, 1983, 1997, and PERHAPS 1992 (for personal reasons – I lived in Columbus, Ohio, and it was SWEET beating OSU in a bowl game. I’m sure I was hard to be around after that. They were glad when I left town.) I’m not saying this gives Coach Richt a PERMANENT pass, but it sure has made me a lot more patient than I otherwise would be. Will Muschimp has cooled my enthusiasm for bringing in Kirby Smart. But we need to get to the next level, and my patience eventually runs out, just like anyone’s.

What say you to your “proudest” seasons of the past 30 years?

Thriller.. this probably wont be a popular post seeing as part of the intent here is to
show the success of CMR. I guess I am proud of the 2007 season because at the end of
the year I think we had the best team in the nation, but that is also a source of
IMMENSE frustration for me.

The reason it is a source of immense frustration for me is that despite having what
I considered to be the best team in the nation; we somehow lost at home to a SC team
that ended up 6-6, and didn't just lose, but got blown out at Tennessee.

Had we won either of those games... we probably would have been NC that year.

God Bless and Go Dawgs

Wartdawg, without a doubt the one loss that I still have not been able to get over is the Tennessee game in 2007. I have been on this board since then doing my fair share of bit**ing and probably enough for many posters here. Think that one game soured this old fart for the rest of his life. Have seen similar failures since, but I now understand the reason(s) why.

Edit: Know that the tag is PROUDEST seasons, just the mention of the Tennessee game puts me in a tail spin.

I'd be willing to bet that that game(tenn 2007) is the bugaboo for 90% of the posters here. One of the vendors that serviced for our business is an urnge fan and has not failed to mention that game to me for the last five years. I'd like to see him with his tail tween his legs for a while.

growl, with a little coaching, your wish will probably be granted. Tennessee will probably be looking for a head coach after this season. Read somewhere today that ex-AD Hamilton's reason for leaving was because he was getting threatening calls. My, my, what goes around comes around, eh averagedawg . . .
