No need to rehash our bowl game. It is history!

How we lost, why we lost will be fuel for this blog for the next several months.

Buc, I will honor and acknowledge you’re correct past statement.

It falls on the HC just like a CEO.

It is his job to fix the problems.

Some question that CMR is willing or capable of doing so.

Many here self-included have expressed how they would answer that question.

To his credit he has taken steps to correct the off the field issues, CK and WE as examples. He has another opportunity with IC.

For those who can remember I wrote a harsh thread after our loss to USC.

I wrote that CMR and his staff had driven the bus in the ditch for the last time for me.

Shortly after hitting the send key did I come to realize that it was my pure frustration speaking.

Fact was that any coaching change before the end of the season was not going to happen.

To make such a change would not have in the best interest of our football program.

I still was going support our players and wait for Mac to do what needed to be done.

After the CC win is when I started with the win back to back and win ugly taglines.

Then the train left the station and we won 10 in a row.

I put the curse on wlayton naming him mayor of the island.

For my part as one of the island people and kool-aid drinkers (code for beer) it was a rebuttal for those who chose not enjoy us beating the unranked teams we faced.

Some also felt that we faced the gloom and doom of another losing season.

For my part it was not fantasy island, I knew we were not yet ready to play and win a NC.

However after the mess in Memphis winning in Knoxville did seem a major step forward.

Screw “Rocky Top” bend over grab your ankles and blow it out your butt!

Is it any less enjoyable for those who live in Fla. that we beat UF and Muschip while they where not a top 5 team?

Two not one but two fourth down touchdown passes!

Enjoy the next ten months, woof loud and long!

How about the blowout payback to Cheezzit and AU?

Last year it was the sunshine pumpers, this year it’s the island people.

2012 ?????

As I said in last weeks thread much work still needs to be done with our football team going forward in several areas.

That was before we even played and lost our bowl game!

I seem to recall that some said CMR would never fire WM.

Even before the loss to MSU there was much in the conversation between Mac and CMR other than extending his contract and a pay raise.

Now there will be even more to be discussed.

After all the time Mac spent at UF ask yourself how sold is he on CMB offense? He might just have a few questions on the usage of player personnel?

Let the process work, trust me Mac’s email inbox is full.

We did not have a great year; we had a good year coming from 6-7 with wins over UT-UF-AU- and Tech.

Losing is never a good thing, but if nothing is learned it is a total waste.

History will judge how much we learned from this game and season.

The improved product this year is light-years from what we watched lose on the field in Memphis.

IMO we will see several changes within the coming months.

Mac is not one to sit and hope things will get better by themselves.

Year three for both Mac & CTG on campus, a very good thing!

Those who have read my past posts know how I feel about passion and how it motivates.

After following this week’s posts let there never be anyone who questions how much passion the “Nation” has toward its football team.

Again I say the best Damn college football fans in the country. Period!

At the risk of inflaming a few passionate souls around here, here is an interesting article I just found, inspired by something you said in your post about questioning if Richt is capable of getting us to the promised land. Obviously the answer so far is "no", but reading this article is interesting in hindsight. The guy was absolutely correct PRIOR to the start of the season:

YD1 you always seem to formulate in writing what my mind is thinking, but can't get out.

Thriller don't think anyone would take that as a flame attempt with the coaching staff, or lack of, that we have now. (now that may be considered flaming). Personally, I feel CMR lacks a "killer instinct" that is needed.

The thoughts that keep swimming around in my head are that we have had huge success in recruiting, but appears we can't get the optimum performance out of the athlete. Like taking a '65 Camaro out on a long stretch of road and driving the speed limit!

When your kicker is less than 50% from beyond 40... you've got a 1st down on the 25, a FG wins it....

.. and your coaches on the O side don't even have the common sense to attempt to pick
up a few yards to make the chance of the kick being good go up dramatically....

Not hard to see why they've never gotten over the hump...

Yes TN... obviously he lacks a killer instinct. We let people back into ball games
all the time, and he's always content to squat and punt or something similar.

yd1.....unbelievable summary and post. Please continue during the off season (is there REALLY an off season??) with your Friday posts. I look forward to them and would like to see more of your posts during the weeks as well.

yd1......believe a few of us sunshine pumpers/cool-aid drinkers were PUT on the island and we just ran with it and "thought" we were just having some fun. The Dawgs were on a winning "roll" and think we actually got a little superstitious.....everything was working at the time and after the 0-2 start, it felt good to be winning and believe we were just hoping the best for CMR. Oh well, guess getting blasted was to be expected at some point. My cool-aid/cold beer offers are always open to you my friend.
